A theory on Summoning in Eorzea

I like your idea Kirisu, however, I will really be disappointed if they don't introduce a Summoner job.

Perhaps if they let everyone summon their own diety like you said, but then, the Summoner job would summon additional summoning magic. S-E has never hinted that they will not allow us to summon Ifrit, Garuda, Leviathan, ect.

So I think your idea is great, as long as they also incorporate a regular Summoning job as well.

not in XIV :P The 12 Guardian Deities were Gods/Goddesses that watched over Hydaelyn as said in the description and The 12 actually comes down to the Planet, as said Halone/Rhalgr(not sure which) went down in the form of Roegadyn. That the coming of them may either mean Destruction or Salvation.

Those aren't Avatars... They're called Primals And The Sylph's themselves describe them as the greater of two evils when compared to the Garleans... In other words, the primals wont ever cooperate with us, and if they do at some point, then i expect to see a damn good justification, that had better make sense lorewise.

I thought they were called primal avatars? :O well since the primals are all summons from previous FFs, it was my assumption that they're like what they were in the previous FFs

Edit: maybe with some methods of defeating primal avatars and purifying them, a primal avatar can turn into summons? would be nice to hear more details about what devs have in mind for guardian deities, the primal avatars, the airship incident and about summons/summoner.

So my LS has been discussing the so called "Dark Side" Of materia which supposedly holds the potential for "Unimaginable power" on our forums. Which branched out to a discussion on Summoning as a result of Materia.

If you're talking about the forbidden technique related to materia, that's just for adding more than one materia that can potentially destroy the equipment and all other materia attached to it. Unimaginable power being a piece of gear with 5 rank IV materia slotted into it.

I dont think they'd be cool enough to give us our own personal avatar, as mind blowing and awesome as that would be, its just not something SE would do in a game like this. Itd be a nightmare for them to balance every class for use with them, i mean its not like a summoner class thats specifically designed for pets. If they were only a '2 hour' sort of thing i feel like itd be an awful lot of development for something so limited but if i had to unleash my dreams, id love to have something like that. Perhaps choosing 1 avatar from a list, each with its own signature skill. I know if i could pull out Alexander for a 15 second invincible or Phoenix for Reraise, itd put me in the hospitals fangasm ward for a week!

I reckon the summoner job or something like it will come, it is an FF staple and many people have voiced their desire to see it. As to what shape or form its pets would be, thats anyones guess. I certainly dont think the materia system will have anything to do with them, it seems pretty self contained.
