    Equal treatment for all Classes

I just wanna put this out there.

One thing that really drew me to FFXIV was that the crafting and gathering classes were in fact classes just like their Disciples of War/Magic counterparts.

FFXIV has the option to let people simply focus on crafting if they wish with minimal attention to DoW/M. You can devote 100% time to crafting, gathering, your personal house, making gil and it is a major part of the game.

Sadly this aspect of FFXIV has not gotten quite as much attention from the devs as DoW/M classes. They get tons and tons of gear and content and Hand/Land get occasional updates.

Now I'm hearing rumblings that beyond desynth, more specialization might be coming. This disappoints me greatly. The freedom to choose between classes is what sets FFXIV apart and is something that provides hours of enjoyment for alot of people. Maybe it won't come to this, but I would hate to see things go in this direction.

Please don't take this away from us by limiting certain advancements to one class.

Omni-class system always was key feature, now they remove it, and no matter what huge amount of people spent huge time making all DOH/DOL classes to 50.

    I hate it.

I think the "only" reasonable justification would be for there to be "specialist" recipes which literally produce top end raid gear.

Another possibility would be for specializations to be temporary, kinda quest-gated.

    Here's what I envision...
Once you get EACH DoH to 60, and finish all of the lvl 60 class quests, you unlock a new set of quests from each class trainer.
Each quest is basically a Talan Lucis turn-in, to keep it reasonable. It should take about a week to finish one quest. Once you finish it, you unlock specialist recipes for that class.
Afterwards, you will need to complete a weekly quest to gain access to your respective specialized facilities to make things.

I'd vote for heavily gil/time expenditure as a gate to get to the top. Which is already is sort of... but more so than now.

Um, I'd just like to point out that the "tons and tons of gear" DoM/W get are heavily gated to something like 1pc of gear a week. DotH/DotL have no such limits. If you are clamoring for equal treatment specialization is in the right direction to take things.

It requires materials which are time gated (moonstones, sealants), which can be curbed by spending more money by getting said materials from other players (sealants) or grinding (seals for moonstones).

Except for few exceptions (which requires overmelds anyway, and thus money), DoH/DoL can't make BiS for the DoW/DoM classes. Making one player specialize on a class defeats the point of the armory gimmick, and if it doesn't have anything to show off for it...say BiS/ or even raid entry quality gear... everyone's just gonna going to go for the class that can make consumables because those have a constant demand.

I'd rather have a gate than a wall.

Personally I am happy its not like DoW/M classes with gear.. By the time you get a set there is another set and you didn't even get time to enjoy the set you just got.. That is the worst grind ever and I hope that dont come to crafting. This is why I decided to move to crafting. I could not keep up gearing all my classes.

Also if you think about it those DoW/M really do specialize. Most pick one or two classes to play mostly.

crafting needs to stay open, timely and resource heavy sure but open.

the whole point is that we can make anything we want that's why we have all these cross class skills.

missions to get new recipes sounds great to me and a good direction but limiting us to one or two classes to do that is not in the spirit of how they market the game.

I became a master crafter because I wanted to and it was fun, to take away everyone's commitment to crafting will be a major mistake that will annoy to many people.

I am looking forward to the new distinct gear sets though as I really like my classes looking different.

Perhaps specialization will grant bonus' to crafting gear. That may be the only 'lock' out there is.
