Duty Finder Penalty should only affect SOLO PLAYERS.

From what I understand, the Duty Finder queue penalty was implemented to prevent people from spamming the queue for an "In Progress" dungeon, and withdrawing every time it's not in progress. Yeah, this was annoying and should be prevented.

So why are groups and players not queuing in progress being penalized?

Often when I play with friends, we'll have about 5 or 6 of us and queue up for things. Sometimes when you wait 30-60 minutes, one of your 5-6 people are not at the computer for the whole less than a minute DF prompt.

Typing this up because for the 3rd time this month, we're locked out of queue for 30 minutes and have absolutely nothing we can do together. I know this isn't a common occurance, but I don't see the reason in penalizing a group for wasting a minute of 1-3 people's time. The penalty system solved an issue but created more in it's place.

Penalties don't affect you if it's a full party or light party for 4 man content. The reason the penalty still applies to incomplete parties is because if you withdraw due to forced withdraw or people not paying attention, the people not in your party is having their time wasted and now they have to be requeued with another group and wait for who knows how long. People really need to make sure everyone is ready before clicking commence or at least have the group withdraw if someone has to step out for a minute.

It is a pain in the bottom if you (lets say 4 players, 2 with key roles like tank and heal) queue and then withdraw after 45 sec. cause one is afk.
The players matched up with you have to wait for new tanks (which may have been assigned to other queues while you were prompted to commence) and now wait 5-10 more mins.

Aside from obvious troll answers like "better friends", get used to do a simple ready check beforehand.

Yeah, 'cause two or more people would never decide to team up so they could endlessly troll people queued for dutyfinder. Like a 1 Healer/1 Tank duo queueing and withdrawing from WoD 30 times in a row if the system let them.

I remember once I was trying to do a stupid guidhest on a tank class I was leveling and wanted the first time clear exp, and I got instant pops because of being on a tank, but someone on healer kept queue/withdraw spamming and after 20 false starts I gave up and did something else. If I had it my way, if someone personally causes failed commencements 3x in a day (vs. it being a party member doing it), that person would get booted out of the game altogether and if it happened twice within a week, it would uninstall the game.

On a side note... anyone else notice a spike in "player withdrawals" with TT being so en vogue? Seriously... don't queue if you're going to play TT. Or at least until SE comes up with an instant forfeit option.

Huh? There are 5-6 of you waiting 30-60 mins on a queue?

Any time i'm in a partial group that is going to queue together, we just have people switch to whatever class is needed in order to start the dungeon. Waiting that long is just intolerable. Also, solves the AFK problem vast majority of the time.

I'd be more understanding if the penalty was from 1 withdrawal. But you get 3 chances.
First withdrawal: "Oopsie, but stuff happens."
Second withdrawal: "Okay, not a big deal, but please pay attention and let us know if you need to afk."
Third Withdrawal: "You knew well in advance what would happen if you botched this, and still messed up. I'm no longer inviting you to my groups, because if you can't stay focused enough to successfully enter a dungeon then I'm suspicious of your ability to actually clear the dungeon."

Actually, if you had been around in 2013 before the Duty Roulette was available. Before the Penalty, there were a few problems:
    1) Bots. Bots would just run ahead/teleport into the chests, grab them and then leave. I never ran into one, but yes, there was a call for this to be fixed.
    2) Trolls. Players (particuarly Tanks) would leave the instance if it wasn't going as fast as they want or the party wipes. There are still trolls out there, but now the amount of damage that can be done is limited by the penalty.
    3) Healers and Tanks would not join "In Progress" dungeons. Leaving DPS to get screwed if either leave.

Largely the changes came about because of #2. It was exceptionally bad when they would "Gear check" before committing to the dungeon, and ditching the party if they weren't in full Darklight gear. There are still people who do this, but I think everyone else just would rather carry one weak/bad person than spend a half hour requeuing.

I largely agree with this. However, the penalty they are specifically referring to in this thread is the penalty for withdrawing/missing a queue pop, for which, I mainly agree with What Malevicton says. But really, if you're going to go afk during a queue, especially a queue that brutal. You should be making it quick, and you should be turning up your volume so you can hear the pop. And, if someone in your group still has a problem, you should consider not bringing them to content unless they can shape up. A ready check during queue is a nice way of figuring out who the offender is.
