Help me Understand upgrading Animus to Novus

Now I know you need 75 materia and 75 Alexandrites
BUt how do I know how much piety to but in or Mind since I'm a healer or Det
A lot of people say start off on materia I like piety materia I
But how much piety 1's or piety II how do I know when to go on to the next materia up?
    Mind materia
    Piety Materia
    Det Materia
    Crit materia
Acc materia I think I don't need but idk
Would I do 18 materia in each stat?
But it still doesn't explain when to do an upgrade on each materia when to movie on to materia II
Sorry if this seems confusing but it's confusing to me
forgot about Vit matiera so it wouldn't be 18 in each stat

Need a lot of gil. Good luck.

The system decides when you get to move on to the next tier of materia and all of them gives only a +1, regardless of tier or type.

How much piety or determination stats you put into your weapon is completely up to you. 1 materia used = 1 point. Lets say you wanna start with piety, you start with piety I materia and fuse those into your scroll. I believe around 7 materia is when you start to notice the infusion success rate start to drop, and after 11 piety I materia infused you'll need to start using piety II materia if you wanna keep putting points towards piety.

You have 75 points to choose from. 75 points, 75 Alex, 75 materia that needs to be fused into your scroll. Might I add, the most you can max out a single stat by is 44 points. Then you'll need to pick a different one.

Basically you're going to want to go full crit/det for the best weapon, it will be very expensive since you need 11+ crit 4s and 8+ det 4s in the end. It's up to you if you want to add some accuracy, spell speed or piety to make it cheaper.

You will start out using grade 1 materia and after 8-11+ materia it will go up to grade 2.. then after 8-11+ grade 3.. then 8-11 grade 4 for a total of 75 materia infused.

There is no way to tell you exactly how many materia you will need since you can fail the infusions and may require more of a certain grade. If you fail an infusion you lose the materia but you do not lose the alexandrite.

Good luck. I'd recommend going for 3 different stats if I were you, so you get a little of everything and you aren't draining your wallet. If you have the Gil or time to spiritbond, then pick your preferred stat and max it out.

Not always 44, it depends on the stat.

Generally speaking, it's a relatively even split (or as even as it can be) for the types of materia you need. For instance, if a stat could go up by say, 33, then you would need 8 each of I/II/III/IV materia if you wanted to max it... plus a 9th of one of those types (not sure which one) because the extra has to go somewhere.

One notable exception is putting accuracy on a healer weapon... the innate small bit of accuracy that they put on healer gear past a certain level counts toward your melds already, so you'll only need a couple of tier I accuracy materia before you start needing tier IIs (of which you'll need a lot more if you want to keep progressing the stat).

Unlike the Atma -> Animus step, you aren't trying to meet a "quota" with your Novus. Instead, you are melding 75 materia to decide which secondary stats you want on your weapon. This of course requires a fairly strong understanding of what each stat does for your job.

It's worth noting that once you've finished a Novus weapon, you have the option to change the stat allocations on it using another scroll. The most efficient course of action is to focus first on completing the Novus step so you can start working on Nexus, and just save up to repec if you decide you truly need to.

Sorry. But you should NOT expect any. Just trying to set your expectations straight. There is no helping the fact that Det IV mat is like 700K each and you need 8 of those to hit the 31 Det limit. This stuff is crazy expensive and the just wait when the meld fails and you lose the 700k. The feels there is real!

How the heck do people afford more than one 135 weapon....???
