Is afking in chocobo races a bannable offense?

So I had this guy threatening to report me because I afked in a few chocobo races.

I have over 1300 matches and 500 1st places but the grind is getting strong, and my current P6 chocobo has a very poor skill setup, so at this point I just wanted to do it the lazy way until I get to P9 and start working on my ultimate chocobo.

But then this guy came and threatened to report me. I understand the whole thing perhaps not being entirely morally correct, but like 90% of the times I do this against 7 NPCs...

What I don't understand is this causing someone to get pissed to the point he threatens to report you...isn't this a bit over the top.

Being doing it too many times is no justification for going afk. What's over the top is what you did in the first place.

I haven't done a lot of races but from the few I did the race doesn't end until everyone finishes, correct? If you're AFK then you're not dashing or using any speed boosts which means you're causing the race to take far longer than it should do. If seven players finish then have to wait a while for you to cross the finish line while AFK I can understand why this would be incredibly annoying.

Then maybe only AFK when you're against 7 NPCs? Making other players sit there at the finish line while you AFK-walk your way there is just a dickish thing to do... If you're too lazy to race just don't race...

Solution: AFK, put a weight on your accelerator key to hold it down. You won't finish first, but you'll still probably beat an NPC bird.

And actually, the races last 2 minutes max regardless of whether everyone finishes or not. I experimented with AFK racing and blind racing - when I didn't accelerate at all, my bird got a "DNF" - did not finish - instead of a time.

How does he even know you're AFK?

If being last (due to "AFK") is a reportable offense, then that isn't fair to players who are just bad at the races and are last.

The game allows you to do it, the end. All SE has to do if they want to prevent this is to not give out rewards if you don't finish the race.
