"A golemancer is someone who specializes in golemancy, that is, the building, design, maintenance, and usage of golems."
^^ Found that with google. Interesting title. Guess it means builder of golems/dolls in this case.
It is a combination of the word Golem, a being from ancient Hebrew lore in which humanlike dolls were made out of clay and brought to life to protect the Hebrew people, and -mancer, as in a manipulator/worker/master of.
Hence golemancer, or doll-master.
I see, I see, thanks! Somehow golem did not occur to me.
I'd rather preferred dollmaster though.
That's a really neat title as a reward! ^^
I'm a little disappointed about the practical level requirement for the choker quest, though. I'd have liked to snag that that pretty choker for my old alt that I'm planing to dust off when 3.0 hits, but apparently I'd have to find someone to bother to essentially do the map quest for me. >.<
While I like the overall format of the event, and think that it is better to allow low level characters to do it with help than not at all, I don't like that this is essentially a lvl 40+ event unless you can get someone else to basically "carry" you.
I think it'd be interesting for them to have made it so that different level groups would obtain different methods of obtaining doll parts. Like, when doing the repeatable quest have a list that players can choose from like:
- Levels 15-25 (1 player)
- Levels 25-35 (1 player)
- Levels 35-40 (2 players of this level range recommended)
- Levels 40-49 (2 players of this level range recommended)
- Level 50 (Light Party recommended)
Make each higher tier give more sets of the doll parts as a reward (thus pushing completion a bit faster). So Level 50s can party up with 3 players (or try it alone if they wish) and fight high level monsters to obtain 5 sets of doll parts per map.
And lower levels (who don't have access to treasure hunting just yet) just have to go search the overworld using a vague clue (similar to how the Valentione's Day event worked) and there will be an interactable point in that area. It may spawn a couple low level monsters and then they obtain the doll parts.
I know that would take more time to develop, but I think it would be a great way to create a dynamic event for players of all levels.
Problem was it was a lvl 15 quest. No one under the level required for decyphering should have to have relied on teaming up with someone who could. It's nice to think of servers full of players willing to help out other players, but realistically in this incarnation of FF Online that is mostly not the case. After all hardocre players are seling wins/runs amongst other things which I doubt is what you intended.
It would have been nice if players who missed out on the earrings could have had an opportunity have gotten those too. I wouldn't be suprised if that stuff ends up in the cash shop for $5 like past event items. Pretty cheesy.
Helping lesser players didn't even occur to me because I had no idea the quest was so low and the decipher part of it was too high. It should have been mentioned by SE that this was the case and more of us would've offered to help out. As it was, I'm a hardcore player and I did help out someone who was at the map site and needed help with the mobs.
They are in the cash shop, same as all the other last year seasonal event items.
I hit my quota...sorry. :/
But yea, they never did appear in FFXI...but then again, so much of the holiday stuff never came back around. It wasn't uncommon to see people in gear and when you asked, there just wasn't any way to get it.

Not all hardcore players are bad but was trying to get my gist out as to how it seems currently when it comes to raids etc at times. It's just silly that they did the quest the way they did. Then there is my point as to past event items showing up in the cash shop. That never happened in FFXI. I just don't agree with it considering the pricing. Alot of that junk is not really worth $5 imo specially when they were in game quest items.
Off topic kinda, if they offered stuff that was not in the event quests, then that's a different deal. I would probably be alright with that.

while I'm certain many of us appreciate the idea of this you have to realize the selfish impatient people unwilling to help others far outweights those willing. thus making events like this harder to complete. in the future you should keep this in mind.
