    Tips/Deck Suggestions for beating Swift in Uldah?

    Hey guys, any of you guys got any tips for beating this guy? He's the one in Ul'dah with the Chaos rule and drops the Rau-- something card. I have 60 cards so I can have a bunch of three decks as well, was wondering if anyone had an efficient deck or tip to beating him? Thanks!

    Swift has a full deck of very highly rated cards, most of which have 9's. I've found that it's less about the cards you have in your deck and more about how you are able to play him. I throw crap cards right in the middle just to bait him to take it, with maybe one of his good cards that has a weakness.

    Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's tough to build a solid "100% win rate deck" for an opponent that uses Chaos ruleset, because sometimes there are just times you can't win.

    That being said, if you have 60 cards, just load up your deck with as many high numbers on all of the sides as possible. Have at least an 8 or higher for every cardinal direction, and hope that Chaos RNG is favorable to you!

    I also recently just hit 60 cards, and I will say that my win/loss ratio against him has definitely gotten better since the upgrade, but there are still instances where it just wasn't possible for me to win due to cards being played at inopportune times.

    Mostly looking at his cards, he is strong to the left and top, along with Shiva which has a 1 top and 8's on every other side, and Louisoix which is 9 top and bottom.
    You can kind of counter him by playing your cards towards the right and top side of the board. The difficulty is finding cards which have points to both defend against his 7/8 cards, AND have enough on the correct "weak" side to take his card's exposed weak sides.

    So I've analyzed his deck after playing him countless times and ripping hair off in frustration.

    One thing is for certain - his cards are generally weak on their right side at the very least. Barring Shiva (8), and perhaps Nanamo (6, but Nanamo seems rare to me), everyone of his other cards are almost always weak on the right or top.

    Let's take a look at his possible cards:

    * Raubahn (weak on top, right)
    * Shiva (weak on top)
    * Louisoix (weak left and right)
    * Alphinaud/Alisaie (weak bottom and right)
    * Ifrit (weak right)
    * Thancred (weak top and right)
    * Nanamo (sort of weak right, very weak bottom)

    After some trial and error, I have come up with this deck. I am only at 51 cards at the moment however:

    * Kan-E-Senna/Bahamut
    * Blue Dragon
    * Rhitathyn sas Arvina
    * Biggs and Wedge
    * Gerolt (my first choice here would be Chimera, but alas I do not have it yet)

    Here are some of my notes so far:

    * Due to the way Chaos works, you'll generally want to have cards that are similar to each other, sort of. Blue Dragon, Rhitathyn, and Gerolt have strong left sides, with Blue Dragon being particularly good for top right corner, Rhitathyn on the bottom right, and Gerolt/Biggs and Wedge generally on mid-right.
    * Also keep in mind that because it's Chaos, you CAN get fucked over by RNG. It happens. It's not perfect.
    * Also keep in mind that the NPC too is affected by Chaos. They will not always play the same order of cards, or have a predictable AI.
    * Choice between Bahamut and Kan-E-Senna is purely based on preference - Kan-E covers the entire bottom row, and proves to be a good card to use to eat Shiva or Nanamo. If you find yourself getting cornered into columns often, Bahamut can easily eat up to 2 cards alone. Fun fact: Louisoix's sides are weak to both of Bahamut's respective sides.
    * Whatever you do, I stress that you must NOT get cornered into rows. Shiva WILL destroy you - I'd go as far as to say she is easily the biggest gamechanger playing against Swift. A late Shiva is easily the difference between a win and a draw, or a draw and a loss. If you get Shiva into columns instead, you can attempt to eat her from above. If you use Bahamut, cornering her into a column is an easy capture.
    * First card notes: Blue Dragon and Biggs and Wedge generally go to the top right corner. The only cards which can eat these cards from the exposed sides are Alphinaud and Alisaie (capture from bottom), or Nanamo (also capture from bottom).
    * Rhitathyn goes to the bottom right corner. If he does use Raubahn or Thancred, you can easily eat these guys with Blue Dragon, or Biggs and Wedge. If he uses Louisoix instead, you can eat Rhitathyn with Kan-E-Senna if you get her, or eat Louisoix with Bahamut. You probably do not want Louisoix to appear this early.
    * If you get Bahamut first, always play him bottom right. You won't have a card that can capture Bahamut back (except Gerolt), if he eats it from the bottom right with Nanamo. You also do not want him top right since if he eats with Shiva, you are screwed. If Shiva eats him from the bottom tile, you can at least attempt to capture Shiva to maintain some equality.
    * Early Shiva that doesn't capture anything, or doesn't make a substantial impact on play, is pretty much a guaranteed draw, or a shot at victory. Be wary of being trapped in a column (Louisoix can strike here).
    * I would use Gerolt with Bahamut, purely because he does cover rows, and Bahamut covers columns. If you use Bahamut and manage to bait Shiva out (ie. middle row), you can cover the top left with Gerolt (his bottom 3 beats Shiva's top 1). If he responds by capturing Gerolt with Raubahn/Thancred, you can eat these guys back easily too, thus you maintain some ground.

    This idea of mine can most likely be improved further. If you have access to unlimited 3*'s, I would use Thancred, Ifrit, Titan, and Nero as my 3* cards probably.

    As I said on http://ffxivtriad.com/npc/27:

    He ALWAYS play Raubahn Aldynn, Shiva & Louisoix Leveilleur.
    Last two cards are chosen randomly with an equal chance between Nanamo Ul Namo, Alphinaud & Alisaie, Thancred and Ifrit.

    I'm trying to find a tactic to beat him consistently, currently I can't beat him more than 33% of the time, especially if I'm the one to start.

    Edit: Went 8 wins - 11 draws - 3 defeats (22 games in the 6am-11am Eorzean Time window) with this deck:

    If you're first to go, play Bahamut bottom right, other cards top right. Then pray to Chaos RNGesus

    Went 8 - 6 - 5 and finally got it (along with 7 Ifrit Cards and 2 Alphinaud & Alisaie cards)

    Hopefully that will help me in those Random games vs Rowena & that south shroud dude.

    Thanks for testing out that 3* deck. I can't use 3* cards yet myself, but I think I might likely switch out Thancred for Garuda, or Urianger.

    I dunno if I got lucky after more than a day of void, but I also got Louisoix Leveilleur from Rowena after the 40 or 50th win (she was wayyyy easier than Swift) and then got Odin from Landenel in S.Shroud after the 6th win lol
