    Less Memorization - More Reaction? (Trials/Raids/Bosses)

    Anyone else feel this would be interesting?

    The idea could be as minor as giving a boss the same set of abilities but randomizing *when* they occur to something really crazy as giving bosses a pool of unique abilities but only grabbing one of them for the fight in addition to what they normally do.

    The idea is to reward reaction and quick thinking as opposed to the rote memorization a lot of bosses are now. I'm not suggesting just make it harder, there should also be a flip side such as bosses having a bit less HP or a a few tenths of a second more to dodge abilities.

    Look for a past letter with the dev, Yoshi P specifically said why he doesn't make bosses have random sets of abilities. It would make world firsts trivial since one group could just get lucky in the timing of mechanics, which others could get the short end of the stick. And making it to where the abilities couldn't repeat / go in a certain order too often still defeated the purpose.

    We already have some bosses with randomized elements and Yoshida said he would think about adding more depending on the popularity of those fights.

    Having world firsts mean less is probably the worst reason I can think for not making the game more enjoyable. That is literally 8 accounts of 4 million to get that honor. Why should the entire game be less challenging as a whole so that a handful of people won't get lucky?

    No one cares about world firsts. People simply don't like RNG and having it as a combat mechanic would turn people off because they can get wiped by something they can't prepare for, which in turn makes farming/grinding more of a chore than it already is.

    Well boo on Yoshi. And boo on literally catering the game to people who compete for firsts. That's not even 1% of the population. In fact those same people who compete on server firsts would probably *enjoy* the challenge of having random crap thrown at you and having to figure out how to survive it. Frankly it feels like lazy programming to me.

    Not a fan of FPS but that new game Evolve looks interesting because there is a player playing the monster. I'm not asking for players to jump into monsters and fight but to make the AI random enough so that it has the same 'feel' in a MMO would be fun.

    Or hell... experiment! Experiment on the story bosses that no one cares about server firsts. IE your expert roulette encounters. IF people like it then go on with more stuff if they don't well at least you tried!

    Please, yes. I hate the "paint-by-numbers" approach. It's currently more important to know a fight by heart than to actually be a good player, and it certainly shouldn't be that way.
