    Well, less memorizing would make fights easier to get into.

    That said, fights right now are already kind of bland "flavor"-wise. You go in, die repeatedly until you figure out the mechanics, then you pretty much play DDR with dragons.

    There is no scouting the location, research to identify enemy weakness (before battle) nor preparing equipment for battle. The world feels "emptier" as a result.

    You can go in a fight blind. But most people prefer to refer to published guides to help them with the fight. It is probably preference.

    In any case, if players want random stuff, we have things like Savage T8 towers. Random enough? How many have cleared it before complaining that they want more randomness?

    Like Yoship said during the Q & A - if the far majority of the players can't even coordinate and handle a heavily scripted fight with tons of PoV and guides that explains the mechanics to the T, don't expect them to able to handle with random fights.

    They are the exact same kind of people: The kind who can memorize mechanics. Almost everyone in Final Coil just memorize strategies other people did and spend some weeks until all the party has memorized all the attacks and can anticipate to every one of them.
    Heck, I have my cooldown rotation already memorized before I even pull Bahamut Prime.

    This game is simply too laggy to have anything timing or reaction based. Just look at how hard it was for people with lag to clear Titan EX. The game has poor net code, server architecture, and it's located in a location (Montreal, Canada) which had frequent congestion and routing issues to the Internet at large. There is no way timing and reaction based fights would work in this game for the majority of players worldwide.

    That's a rather subjective argument to make, especially considering that there are already mechanics for certain fights in the game that are timing and reaction-based. Although I can't necessarily deny that the game does have its latency issues from time to time, which can come from a multitude of factors.

    That's because the fights are scripted, you can memorize what's going to happen and start reacting to the mechanic before it even happens. That's how people who had lag beat Titan EX, they would start moving out of mechanics before they even appeared on their screens. This would be impossible if you had to see the mechanic first before reacting to it.

    For example, I have enough lag that when Bennu appears it is already going straight for our WHM even while it's just the name and Bennu is still materializing. I know this is going to happen, so I am already doing Skull Sunder the moment I can select Bennu even though it hasn't even fully appeared yet. Sometimes my Skull Sunder goes off, I see the damage number over Bennu's head, but it still takes off for the WHM and then turns around halfway there and comes back to me. That's how laggy and unresponsive this game is, and I'm on the West Coast US. Timing and reaction based fights would be literally impossible with this kind of inherent lag.

    I don't see that many people complaining about it. It is an interesting fight. The randomness isn't the huge issue either, the problem is it feels unfairly punitive when one person messes up. If a DPS messes up on titan ex and they fall off the level you can still get through it if everyone else is on the ball. If one DPS goes overboard and kills something before it is time then you're screwed. Worse in a DF a lot of people will try to continue instead of wiping right away. THAT is frustrating. Not the random nature of it.

    After seeing multiple people in T9 farm parties STILL hit the entire party with Thunderstruck because they can't seem to pay attention... please no. People can't even handle the scripted mechanics as it is; randomized ones would be an utter disaster.
