I'm quite sure that this will never happen for reasons as to it make people do a lot of work to buy the time with gil than actually play the game.
So no this will never happen it would cause a big imbalance in game and would take fun out of it because people will be farming stuff all day every day to make the gil they need to buy time from some one.
Its not needed so stop arguing about it and if you really need something like this because you can't afford the sub...then get a friking job real life job sell some of your things for go food for a day because if your already a active player you can afford the sub so just play the game.
lol ok we lie to ourselves but the post above yours is exactly what jandor is talking about.
I've been skimming the thread at best.
Something something no you are nurr.
Congratulation on putting the main point of the topic away.
The problems caused by a PLEX system is exactly why this thread is 52 pages long.
You cannot say "let's put all issues aside and, oh look, this is a good system!".
Of course no one cares if your mom buy your sub or if a random stranger gives you a game time card out of charity... or give you time through the mog station.
The main point of the topic is about when you include gils in the equation and actually ruin the overall economy as well as putting "money skips" into the game.
Thanks Captain Sarcasm.
The main point of this topic is about reevaluating whether a PLEX like system would be a good idea or not. Game time tokens (PLEX) that can be gifted but not sold seems like a possible middle ground and is therefore IMHO relevant to the topic. The problems caused by a PLEX system is exactly why this thread is 52 pages long.

I have my Legacy account status. The discount is enough for me.
Dude keep quiet they gona complain more.
The appeals of the main topic of this thread are these two things:
- Players are able to use real money to get some gils.
- Players are able to use gils to get some ingame time.
Even if it will completly destroy the economy, and is a terrible thing to do against the pace of the progression each player must experience, there is still benefits to it.
I fail to see any potential interest in your "middle ground" system beside a few exceptions such as "but... I want to pay for my girlfriend subscription!", which you can already do with your credit card and game time cards anyway.
You started by saying:Well, if it can ease your concerns, I can guarantee you that nobody care about the ability of gifting game time using the Mog Station, in exchange of nothing.
Sure, it would be a nice little option for the very few people who'll use it... but it's still absolutly not in the range of a system like the one this topic is all about.
Plex works in EVE because CCP simultaneously implemented a bloodhound team who are one step away from rabid when it comes to dealing with RMT and botters. A Plex system will NOT work in FFXIV due to SE's lax ban wave system where they "get around to it eventually." Putting a purchasable time system in, without taking a heavy and active hand against gil sellers, would simply enable them to empty out the market of all game time for sale, further fueling them.
As much as a system like this would benefit the game, it CANNOT function with current GM enforcement methods.
