If SE do that, I uninstal the game and delete my account definitively !
During some years I'm looking for an monthly suscription MMO ; but I dont like WoW at all ; FFXIV is my awser, plz never do it F2P or all other payment system.
SE please, dont betray my confidence.
It probably wouldnt work out too well for SE to do it in this game. First of all they have 2 different sub types, entry and standard. Then there is that retainer thing. What are they going to do? Make a different token for each sub type and another good for 1 retainer/month? PLEX for subs only but theyll still charge for the retainers? Only sell standard sub token? I just dont see it happening here any time soon. For whatever reason, Japan seems to really love their subscriptions to the point where even FFXI is still a good old fashioned sub-based game.
Either way FFXIV is still growing and going strong (which was surprising to me) and only getting better. WoW has lost millions in just a few years. You may be thinking "oh but 8 million+ is still great!" Yeah, it is, but its relative. Blizzard has much more invested into WoW. The bigger something is, the more it takes to maintain. I doubt Blizzard is just shrugging off losing over 4 million subs as much as the players are. WoD is already being compared to Cataclysm in terms of worse expansion so who knows how much they'll lose by the next report. I doubt this "option" to have players pay for others subs for in game gold after losing so many subs is a coincidence.
Id gladly take a PLEX system over F2P but this isnt necessary for FFXIV game ATM, and hopefully never will be.

It's not a matter of giving it to them.
They don't need us to "give it to them"/allow them to legally buy gil, they can just get it themselves/buy from the bastard RMTs.
We can't stop them, might as well try to benefit from it.
The ???? Is this?
Also, 4 million registered accounts ≠ 4 million active subscriptions.
There's that ignorant assumption again.
Clearly, there aren't thousands of houses, so what else in that paragraph might I have been talking about? Oh, right, players.
The ignorant, rude comments from someone who can barely follow my post in the first place continues. Don't post if all you're going to do is sling insults and attempt to condescend to others under some baseless assumptions. Also, no, you're not entitled to all content. You're entitled to the opportunity, but if you missed the opportunity or don't seize it, oh well. Again, that's not the developers fault for the passage of time and their supply for the data space they have available on their servers allotted for housing being filled. I didn't get to accomplish everything I wanted to in 1.0, but that's just because I wasn't playing it sooner. It's not the developers faults.
Not saying it is the developer's fault. But if you want to deny people content because they can't/don't want to spend as many hours playing as you, then you are the problem.
Where does this assumption come from? Because I used the phrase, "the passage of time"? You people really need to stop strawmanning, because that's not what I said at all.
EDIT: Not making another post for another one-liner:
Assuming we're back on topic now, I already stated my view on it several pages ago. In addition, just because WoW is doing it now, doesn't mean that XIV needs to; which it doesn't as XIV isn't sinking like WoW is. Diablo 3 had a similar implementation in it's Auction House where you could buy/sell Gold for real life currency, but has since been closed down. Diablo III Auction House Comes to a Close
Undermining gameplay for the exchange of real-life money is a last ditch effort to make bank, and frankly, I feel it has been ruining games lately. From a personal experience in recent years, when DeadSpace 3 was released and when you went to a bench and it had the option to buy a weapons upgrade pack, (or something like that), and it's just like, "Why? I can play the game and upgrade it myself." [This is just an example.]
Buuut...
After looking at how simple WoW's implementation is, I can see where people wouldn't mind the same implementation here as well. For as nice as it would be to pay for my subscription with in-game currency, I worry about ramifications of more people buying wins through content and again, that undermines the gameplay. If people have a problem with the rich being rich in this game, this would only make them more rich, lol. The ideology of the slippery slope from the Cash Shop to PLEX to whatever is next is also concerning for the future quality of content from the game.
Judging by their last response with the Wedding Bands though, I don't believe they're much interested in this idea yet either.

OK then. Why are you against it?
