Router help

Our router crapped out last Tuesday and the game is too laggy to play. I know nothing about routers though. I need one that can handle my roommate and I playing (both on ps4). Can anyone help me out with some suggestions?

Gaming Routers are quite good, but expensive.

Well if you just have bad internet service there is only so much you can do. Is your router in a weird place? Like under your couch, lol... your signal might be weak. You can also try to get a booster. Its just a usb stick you plug in that will slightly improve your signal. I could not play FFXIV in Texas until i got a booster. Not sure where you live but i got mine at Best Buy for like 70 bucks. Kinda hefty but thats on you.

You could also contact your ISP and see what they might recommend.

Are you on a wireless connection? If possible can you use a cable instead as that would be the cheapest and best solution.

Playing FFXIV for me on wireless has been such a bad experience. It got to the point that I bought a really long ethernet cable and plugged it in. The difference is night and day. I would highly recommend playing wired, ESPECIALLY if you live in an apartment or an area with a lot of networks.

Yeah we're considering just getting me a long ethernet cable. The wi-fi worked pretty good up until recently and then it just completely died. It's only for my ps4 though, everything else is running fine. If the cable doesn't work then I'll call xfinity I guess and but an expensive router if that's my only option.

Your ISP should supply you w/ one, including setup.

If you want to use your own router, I always suggest the Apple Airport Base Station. It's fast, reliable and easy to setup.
