MOG Station Dyes not working as Advertised?

Ok so here is my delima, I was browsing the MOG Station looking at the Optional Items when I came across Metallic Green Dye. It was on the Dragoon Artifact Armor, armor that I wear and love so dearly and thought it looked amazing. I bought 5 of em for my set and logged in to apply them to my armor. When I activated the dye screen, the artifact armor was nowhere to be selected. I opened a ticket asking a GM for information as to why the website would advertise Artifact armor as dyable all over it if it wasnt going to work when I used the dye. I got this response:

    >Hello and thank you for your GM call.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Game Master Team

So I guess I'm here to ask the forums, a crack team of experts no less who clearly work for Square Enix and know all things Final Fantasy. Since Active Help couldn't show me why dye "show cased" on Artifact Armor wasn't applying to my own Artifact Armor. Maybe y'all can explain why I was being mislead on the website, or if this was just a bug. Any constructive Help is appreciated.

    Thank You

Here is a pic of the MOG Stations very own website showing what I thought to be true.

Am I seeing things? does that not look like the DRG artifact Armor?

Not sure what stage you are at for being able to dye af so I will review it all.

-Firstly you need to make sure to do the quest

    1. "Color Your World" located Western Thanalan , NPC- Swyrgeim - (x12, y14)
    2. "Simply to dye for" located in Mor Dhona , NPC- Alys - (x21, y8)

This unlocks the ability to dye af.

    3. Then you must augment each piece of af you wish to dye with high lv alchemist crafted items. (check the market board for thse)

There are specific items for each job. see pic below.

You need anywhere from 1-2 of these items /piece of af gear you wish to make dyable.

    4. Once you have the augments in hand, take the af + augments to NPC- Kakalan - Mor Dhona- x22 y5 trade to him and you receive af back that you can now dye.

Its always a good idea to "test dye" any piece before going through all of this !!!!

Some materials do NOT dye anything like they appear looking just at the sample dye.

ie/ drg af will dye very very little no matter what dye is used..especially any light colored dye).(I have suggested improvements to this many times lol) So preview all dyes before buying any on the gear you may want to dye, it may be a lot less "noticeable" then you may think.
