so you could either walk into fcob with the Soldiery sets (i110), Syrcus Tower Sets (i100), HA sets (i110) or the crafted sets (i110) AND... AND... i110 accessories from HA and Soldiery.

    i110 accessories and weapons released - January 20, 2015
im not so sure you know what consistently even means because for almost the entire life of FCOB these items were not around. It seems as if you are assuming this stuff was around for the entirety of high end raiding when in fact they ALWAYS release it towards the end because they want people to get through so they can focus on new content (heavesward) And to further my argument... (taking a look at your lodestone profile http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...acter/2252820/ it would seem that you are decked out (not made by you of course) in the said i110 accessories) It would seem that you have in fact leveled all your crafters to 50, which takes a lot of effort, but since you yourself didn't make your accessories i would venture to say that you have not attempted to unlock your masterbook II recipes. ANY SINGLE PERSON who has done this DESERVES x1000 to have bis gear. even if i am wrong and you do have them unlocked then you should know and agree with this.

This gears purpose is sort of a catch up (which you have stated) but even though out off all the options to gear up, unlocking these alone is just as hard as FCOB, but if you don't go that route and just buy them then boom caught up. Same thing that is happening with the hunt, or with the zodiacs. OMG ZETA on same tier as FCOB weapon!!>??? yeah because they have been grinding zeta for a freakin year or probably more... they gave the fcob weapon its bis turn now the people who are working just as hard on relic/zodiac have their catch up. sounds a lot like crafters now getting the upper hand right?

But in the end what you are arguing against is our only shred of customization... so i want to be an aggressive tank who can hold hate just as effectively as any other. might take more effort but in the end do you want some lazy ass tank flashing his way though fights and just barely doing the minimum or someone who takes ever single aspect of his job seriously and pushes as hard as he can?

I think flying and airships is going to be pretty game changing.

So what if some crafted gear bits are "BiS" from time to time? Besides no "BiS" set including i110 with melds exclusively, those pieces cost a ton of money that isn't available to the majority of players. (Furthermore, the attention put on "BiS" is profoundly disproportionate to its usefulness. The variance of player skill and even DPS loss from random mechanic elements is significantly more than the difference between any accuracy-capped set at similar ilvl)

Crafted gear simply hasn't supplanted the coil drops or discouraged people from attempting it. Good crafted gear enables more participation: It gives people some options when they don't get the drops they need. Like healers/DPS with vit on a i110 ring to survive later coil. Or opens up new ways to think about a class like tanks with hybrid strength. If you have weaker DPS but good healing that's a tradeoff tanks should be able to make.

Consistency has nothing to do with timing. When the crafted accessories are always BiS then they're consistently BiS. That's all it is. If we ever reach a time where an entire set of crafted gear beats an entire set of raid gear, raiding is finished.

Regarding my progress, you're right. I haven't unlocked any Masterbook II's. I gathered all of the materials myself for two full sets of the accessories(for my co-tank too) and gave them to a crafter in my FC. However, the only reason I'm not at 4* crafting is because I haven't spent much time on the endeavor. I leveled the crafters for 2 purposes, mainly: repairing my own gear and making food/potions for my raid group. Since 4* food is not worth negotiating the RNG to obtain HQ, I've stuck to 3*. Getting to 4* crafting isn't about skill. It's about time and pure, dumb luck. As long as the situation exists where you can fail at a "perfectly executed" craft for a reason that is not your fault, it has no place being outlandishly better than gear obtained from avenues where failures are always the player's fault. Even the relics, with their enormous grind, only create a weapon at the end of the day that can be 0.1% better than the raid weapon. Otherwise, it's precisely equal.

For crafted gear to be acceptable BiS, I'd say the following must occur:

    1. RNG is removed completely from both crafting and materia melding. Instead, some kind of process that requires skill is necessary to succeed. Failure to meld a materia or get an HQ craft would always be because the player failed the "mechanic".
    2. The crafting/obtaining of "raid level" crafted gear is locked out on a weekly basis, just like tomes and the raid itself.

What I'm currently hoping is that the failure to nerf the i110 accessories compared to i90 and the "early" increase of relic weapons to parity with Dreadwyrm are just the devs throwing us a bone and letting us feel like gods before the expansion, where they'll let the restart of the treadmill be an opportunity to rebalance things.

    What I want?

For the new race to also coincide with a new beginning nation. And that nation also having access to a new housing ward area.

Keep the Smn and Sch team but add a 3rd team member that uses Dex as its main stat. Have fun with those 30 points.

And oh yea, keep all classes in the game while making them useable in endgame.

A complete change to the housing system, making it so there's a single ward in each district, but the housing plots themselves are instanced. That way, the housing issue is solved pretty much permanently...

For all your doom and gloom about how crafted gear is destroying the game, I just don't see that many people using it. Sure, some of the very well off or most dedicated will use it, but it's not that widespread really. I see much more dreadwyrm gear than I do i110 crafted gear.

It is all about maximizing your chances for success. Crafting gives you many tools to reduce your chance for failure. Better crafters will be able to adapt to the random misses and condition changes thrown at them and give themselves the best chance at success. Sure you'll get really terrible runs every once in a while where everything goes wrong and reclaim fails, but that's going to be the minority. And the best part about the book "trials" is you only do them once.

Crafting is much less random than say, waiting for the raid boss to drop that piece of gear you actually want. Or what about over melding? It's literally just click the button and hope for random low chance of success. Anybody remember the original atma?
