That is sadbut I see it all the time too. I can understand not having the man power but, I've seen a few F2P player made games that use players as GM's. They should start this! I bet there are a lot of people that would do it for free! It would be easy to have a contact/something to make sure people don't troll/abuse the power.
They have 500K subs? If even 100 of them were willing to do it for free that is 100 more eyes that would be able to play the game as normal, then switch over to another account when they see this.
1) I understand that free trial users can't send tells.
2) And I understand the motivation to have free trials often. More players is good for both SE and the community.
3) However, RMT DOES go up with free trials, because free trial users are a new market for RMT to bombard. And people who are new to the game may not despise the disgusting bots like we do.
PS - Think about it. For many people, especially on consoles, this may be their first MMO. I know that it was mine when I started. There are enough other genres (F2P anything) that offer in-game currancy for real money that the idea of utilizing a service like that wouldn't be so repellant. They wouldn't be thinking about what effect utilizing a RMT would have on the community. And even if they were aware of the very real danger of their account getting hacked (which I also doubt is common knowledge), what does it matter? They would be losing a week's progress, rather than a year's.

umm... I don't think you read the info. Free trials cannot either send /tells. they also cannot trade, or use mog mail, or use retainers, or even hold a significant quantity of gil. There is literally no reasonable way apart from the gil bots literally partying new players and telling them over party chat, and then they would have no method of delivery anyways.
free trial users aren't targeted by RMT.
Got proof of that assumption? People can't even get on Balmung so it doesn't seem like assumption broadly applies. State it for what it is. Your thoughts or assumptions. Don't act like your espousing fact. You're not.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike the RMT but does it REALLY get to some of you to the point of wanting to unsub? I find it really easy to block and ignore. Maybe I'm lucky for being able to ignore the RMT and continue enjoying the game. I would just like to say to look at the positive things in the game and I hope that they are more of a pro vs the cons of RMT interrupting your game play.
The RMT advertisers have gotten increasingly obnoxious lately, what with the fact that they now send Friend Requests alongside spamming you with Tells, but I really don't think it's an issue so severe that it warrants unsubscribing. Learn to ignore that stuff, or set yourself on Busy so you won't get pestered.
That being said, I think the institution of a larger blacklist would be helpful along with a function where it automatically removes characters who have been deleted from the server. Saves me the trouble of having to occasionally comb through the list just to manually remove deleted characters whenever my list's hitting its limit.
