Battle needs to be more dynamic as well

This, having 8 skills at level 12 is kinda good I find, your friend might think they all did the same but I don't think it is true, they are all different skills. Plus there are some skills that do not require any TP to use, so you can use that on top of AA if you wish.

You need to take into consideration that the more you level, the more skills you can use that doesn't need TP (more if you cross-class) plus skills that you can buy with guild marks.

Then you have to think of a long term use of this system with multi-hit weapons, faster delay weapons, haste spells and haste-like abilities. If they speed it up right now, there will be no place for those.

The speed it fine right now, people should get over it already and think of a bigger picture.

Your friend can like or not the game, but if this is the reason he gave you, then he just was not interested from the start imo.

I'm going to make an assumption that he came into FFXIV thinking 'this is going to be FFXI' - but it's not. FFXIV is about as much like FFXI as RIFT is like WoW... they are similar but not the same exact game.

EDIT: Also if he got all classes to level 12, he would have 8 x 7 = 56 skills to choose from. Granted not all abilities/skills transfer across classes but still he would have 40+
