They should just keep bringing back such limited time events during anniversaries, in addition to adding new "limited" events. The fates for Shantotto, Lightning, and Dragonquest were decent, and I'm sure they can flip them on and off easily enough. Nothing wrong with fighting brickmen and Shantotto golems every now and then.

I don't feel that those costumes and items should be limited to "special" players, since there is nothing really special about having played the game a year before someone else. And they can always add more stuff to the events for older players, like when they added the new slime helmet last summer to the dragonquest event. Maybe a FFXIII-2 style moogle pet and dragonquest inspired weapons.

I just don't like the idea of LIMITING new players in terms of the fun items they can acquire. Moving old holiday rewards to the cash shop was bad enough, we shouldn't erase unique events and send their items to that purgatory as well. If you want limited social rewards that actually mean something, try participating in the holiday screenshot contests these forums host for unique jewelry.

I don't think anyone's actually answered this question in the thread, so I might as well:

No, there has been no word on this. At least, not to my knowledge. Not even any word that SE is aware that there is a demand for it (though it's hard to imagine they don't know).

Okay, you can all go back to speculating on what form it would take if Lightning hair was was brought back yet again!
