Its very frusterating when im behind something and bootshine doesnt crit. Yes I'm in opo form and yes I'm behind the target.

If you're soloing it it's gonna turn, so no, you were not behind the target.
Welcome to the woes of monk soloing, where you should just forget you have any positionals at all
Pretty much. Although mobs appear to take time turning for the sake of visual fidelity, server-side they are facing their aggro target very closely except when casting or (on some mobs) animation-locked.
There are also some mobs that can track targets while casting; I don't know if there are any outside instances.
The window in which you can hit a mob from behind, if they're targeting you, is so tiny that it isn't worth trying to run through the mob repeatedly to make it happen.
You just have accept that Monks are supremely gutted in a solo scenario.
Monk is the only class I've leveled where I actually died for reasons other than accidentally pulling too many mobs. Paladin, Ninja, Scholar, Bard, Dragoon--no issues. The difference in DPS between a Monk that can benefit from its positional bonuses and who can't is so substantial that it makes me want to cry. I just solo everything as a Paladin in Sword Oath, since the DPS is still high but I can't be taken below 80% health.
Well for soloing, if dying is an issue you might as well use fist of earth since its technically better in that scenario (5% dps vs 10% mitigation).
Hehe this very concept is the reason i leveled DRG to 50 as my first max lvl character. All of the soloing is supremely painful for MNK. Literally every other class can use a full or 95% full damage rotation while soloing.
I don't see the big deal. Everything dies super fast regardless of whether you're being optimal or not.
