Tripple triad was always a fun game involving learning how to use the rules to your advantage. Additionally, the rules applied to both players (obviously) so either one had the potential to learn and use the rules to gain the upper hand, even with the cards stacked against you (Like how we all beat and farm Elmer with the starter deck).
The random rule destroys this balance.
It's not something you can overcome with skill and/or wit when it's the only real rule in play, especially when up against an NPC. That bit about rules applying to both players? yeah, that's not a thing with this rule. Considering an NPC has a card pool of about 8 with usually only 1 of them being a one star card. The game literally stacks the deck against you and makes it nearly impossible to win when you have no other rules to make up for it like the plus rule.
Take Landenel for example.
He plays with Random and fallen ace.
None of his cards have an A so that rule can only work against you
He has a card pool of SIX CARDS
which means EVERY HAND he has great cards
while every person playing him has at LEAST 5 1 star cards in their card pool (the starter deck)
and if you don't have 30 cards yet, you will ALWAYS get stuck with 4 of your cards being 1 star, despite the random rule (still follows deck building rules)
If you are dealt such a hand (happens quite commonly) then it comes down to simple numbers. With his rule set, his cards are nearly unflippable while yours are screwed from every angle...
This rule needs to be fixed.
It upsets the balance
(also it's just more crappy RNG we're all tired of. There's enough RNG everywhere else in this game)
