Books, Notes, Artifacts - Reading!

So, I've started leveling my Fisher lately and I do enjoy it even if it gets a little dull. People have recommended Alt-tabbing, dual screening, watching TV shows, reading books. Etc, etc, etc.

Well, I wanna play FFXIV, I wanna be immersed in it, I don't want to have to go to another source of entertainment because of lolgrind.

My suggestion is adding lore books to the game, notes found in the open world, artifacts with reading pleasure descriptions.

Well, there is some of that - your very own fishing log! While I was working on collecting big fish, I'd read the entries in the fishing log. They go into a lot more detail than the text on the fish itself.

If you've been collecting Triple Triad cards, that's another source of good lore at your fingertips while you're angling.

I've found some tidbits of interest going back and reading old quest logs, as well; sometimes they reveal things that I didn't pick up on while doing the quests myself.

Certianly, I have no objections to adding new lore of the type you describe - can never have too much! - but there's quite a bit available to us even right now.

At the absolute least, I wish they'd bring the papers back to the Lodestone; The Mythril Eye, The Harbor Herald, and The Raven.

Those provided a nice bit of reading on current topics. Ifrit fight being added? Here's an article in The Mythril Eye about Ifrit. New dungeons planned? The Raven and The Harbor Herald have you covered.

Now all we get is a paragraph or two on the patch website... Meh...

But that would be like when you go into a library in one of those Final Fantasy games, and start reading books on the shelves. That wouldn't really work in a...

They could do something like dragon age where when you read a note/book ect the contents are recorded for later reading, that would be amazing..

it would also make things better for people who are going through dungeons with reading material for the first time since alot of people at this point want to rush through. I support this.
