So me and a few friends were talking about where the Relic questline will go with the introduction of Heavensward and came up with an idea.

Our idea is a mix of FFII and FFX, where everyone can do a quest and get their new relic weapon, this weapon will then have it's own exp bar and a sphere grid. Using the sphere grid you can level up your weapon by doing solely 60+ content.

High end content would also drop stat spheres which can be used to replace stats no your grid for customisability (stat caps will be in place for each section). Each sphere wouldn't just be a stat though, there would be change weapon and limit break appearance spheres.

The rules of X's sphere grid would also apply where you can go back and try to fill each section before moving on, or even gain the extra stats afterwards.

At the end of each section would be a lock, unlocking this would increase your weapons ilvl by 5. To unlock your weapon SE could create challenges, like hard 4 man content to be beaten, or a series of challenges, this is where SE can put in the ability to hold back the weapon between patches and make it difficult to continue on.

Now the big question is would this part of the relic quest be for people who have completed 2.0's relic or newcomers too; well it has to be the latter there's no question of that, so our idea was that upon collecting your new weapon you get a load of SP depending on how much of 2.0s relic you have done, to the point where a zeta weapon would give you the abillity to completely clear out the first section and gain 5 ilvls, giving a huge advantage.

I feel having a weapon that levels with you will make it a lot more personal, and making it so doing raids is the highest exp gain means more people will be inclined to get into that content rather than your ever so popular "garuda hard mode light farm".
