    The times are different because it is YOUR time on your invitation. You rock up at the time stated on your invitation and he rocks up on the time stated on his invitation. It is so that you don't have to do time conversions or end up missing the ceremony because you got the time wrong.

    Yeah, but I think what he is saying is that Eastern and Central time zones are side by side, so technically one or the other of their invitations should say 6pm rather than be two hours apart.

    That doesn't matter, the time on YOUR invitation is when the ceremony starts for you .
