I hate to say this but I think I have you doubled ;-; I've done at least 1000 matches against the Imperial with no Gaius drop.

I've been hearing Praetorium has a good drop rate...might have to try my luck there. That NPC will drop me 6 Nero's in a row (no joke...) but not one single Gaius.

They would love it, because it would obviously be paired with Reverse...

This is false because plenty of us are already doing it every day. Frankly it's actually easier that the random rule doesn't apply to NPCs because then you can learn what cards they have to play and better manipulate what they will put down.

If you are having issues with the random rule then you need to learn a bit more about the game. Most high level cards have at least 1 weak edge. The games isn't just about being able to build high level decks to overpower other decks. You need to learn how to force them into exposing cards weak edges, learn how to block your cards and learn how to manipulate the board where you trap high level card placement.

I think "Chaos" and "Order" killed the fun of TT. these rules limited strategies we can use, and isn't fair for players with weaker cards.

the old rules like Same & Plus make weaker cards have a chance to beat stronger cards and that's a good thing.

Teehee, I got Gaius in 2.5 hrs.

This is simply not true. And sorry for saying, but it sounds like you lack experience facing these opponents.
-Its impossible to ''bait'' a turn one Minfilia placed in the left bottom corner. The weak side of high level cards can easily be placed against the edge of the board, leaving you no room to attempt to flip it.
-1 star and 2 star cards cannot block 4 or 5 star cards. How do you block an A or 9 when your highest is a 7?

The only way to beat NPCs with the random rule and such decks is to find wanky areas in their patterns, and bug them to make ''stupid'' moves. Yes technically its impossible, but that is only because of the bugs in the ai programming (assuming its not an intentional weakness, as ive won games where the NPC had last move and didnt use it to win)

Random is together with chaos, the hardest rule to fight against. With random you cannot even build a deck for it.

-It is incorrect that random does not apply to NPCs. However NPCs have 2 fixed cards that are always part of their active deck, and only a small total amount of cards that can be chosen for their deck. The first fixed card is typically their strongest card in their entire deck.

It is not impossible to bait any NPC. You don't have to bait every move, but you can force ALL NPCs into predicable moves by understanding how the general order processing works in Triple Triad. Lots of people figured this out in FF8, and they applied the exact concept to it in this game.

Blocking a card means literally blocking the last edge of a card so that no other moves can be played on that card. This is a very basic concept in the game. Additionally when you are playing a low level deck to a high level deck, you play under the very basic concept that the NPC will play a card to flip one of yours and your next play is to flip it back. This also ties into the concept of baiting out the NPC to play cards where you want them to.

Really, the end game here is to maintain your 5 and flip one of the NPCs. It's not as hard as people in this thread seem to be making it out to be. You don't have to capture all of the NPCs cards to win here. You do this with low level cards by making sure that you can flip back your own cards and then blocking that card from being flipped again by a higher level card. The other main goal is the try and force the NPC into having to play areas that are already surrounded by its own cards. Learn these concepts and its an easy 80-90% win ratio with any deck in the game.

And it's funny that you mention that the only way to win is to 'bait them' into making stupid moves. That is exactly the point here!

I got Gaius in my first five hands against the Redolent Imperial.
