their secondary stats are accuracy and determination instead of critical and skill speed.
are they worth the poetics? I only have the gloves and the belt now since they seem to have better stats than the other pieces in this set.

The Ironworks chest and legs are easily the best pieces for NIN in the game. Avoid purchasing the head, wrist, and earrings. The rest of the pieces are pretty good filler until you get your hands on Dreadwyrm or crafted i110 (with maximized melds). Also, skill speed is pretty much a stat you want to avoid in most cases. Stack Determination and Crit while trying to reach an accuracy amount of 535.
Head is actually crucial to reaching the 441 Skillspeed point that lets you get an extra GCD inside every trick attack. It honestly comes down to how you mix and match gear.
Here is my current set-up (add risotto at the bottom if you like).
All iron-works on left side. I do have a surplus of accuracy for now, but waiting on the dread bracelet and ring to drop, then switching to lavatoad legs.
On the i125 Sasuke Blades, I'm did T11 at 500-520DPS (I'm not the best, but I'm cool with those numbers). Just upgraded to my Zeta this morning (did 580-600DPS on a dummy for 4:34secs before TP starvation, hoping for 550ish in actual raids)
Mu setup is in no way "bis," but I personally went this route because any upgrade is better than none while praying for dread drops, and I'm not keen on spending tons of gil on pentamelded gear with lower primary stats, but that's just me.

Well, Ironworks gloves and belt were not wise first-purchases, unfortunately. Though, it's good to have both sets to customize for the situation.
Here's my future set: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/PVKE (+497~ DEX); just waiting on the ring, head and wrist.

Have not upgraded my ironworks chest yet ... but currently the Demon Chest Piece is better.
Is the ironworks piece not ss and determination if i recall? Demonchest piece has crit which i much prefer over skill speed
The Augmented Ironworks Chest is 33acc and 34det (det is valued higher than crit, though some people still prefer crit for their build), plus the additional strength after the carbontwine upgrade. The Dread chest is crit and ss.
Ahh for some reason i thought it was a skill speed piece like not so good Bard one.
I was actually also talking about the non augmented ironworks gear, the Demon chest for my current build is better until i can upgrade ironworks
I only like the NIN pants. I got the shoes too, but only because my old ones were even worse. I tend to consider every piece with skillspeed on it to be pretty much junk.
For someone who don't have Final Coil is his future due to T9 wall, I'm working towards getting Ironworks then Augmented Ironworks (currently have Augmented feet, and will have another piece or two once I cap Poetics).
