Getting Novus

I'm gearing up my Atma for my WHM to get my Animus.
The only reason why I'm trying to get Animus is to get Alexandrite from fates.
Since I want to have a Dark Knight with relic.
Got all the atmas so now I'm working on Alexandrites.
My friend told me you need 75 materia is that right?
That's a lot of materia
But I've heard there is a quicker way of doing it.
Buy crappy materia and it will all even out or something like that in the next relic form Nexus.
I've been working on getting my Dark Knight prepped so I don't have to do the hard struggle later.
So if there anything I need to know about Novus before I get there?

Actually, you will start with the crappy materia

Last I checked, Det/Crit build has been proven wrong and is actually inefficient.

Det/Crit actually depends on what class you're playing and what you're actually doing.

IE: Det/crit on Monk. The crit is basically...meh-ish on Monk since it doesn't benefit as much as Determination. If you're raiding, you might just go Det/acc/SS.
Crit/Det on a Bard is pretty good since the job weight stats for Crit and Det are pretty similar.

How do I know how much to put in though for exp
Do I put 17 materia I then 17 materia II and so on?

Depends on the stat cap. Crit for example will cap at 44, so if you wanna go for that, you will put 11 of each grade Materia on it.
