What relic weapons get from FATEs?

So I'm trying to decided whether or not to upgrade another relic with my atma, I want to be able to continue farming atma for other classes with my bard, but I also main bard so I want to upgrade that relic. If I do, will I still get Atma drops? I vaguely remember something about drops continuing after upgrading but I don't remember if that included atma or if it was just alexandrite. If anyone could help me with this info that'd be great.

Atma only drop with a Zenith weapon. You're free to upgrade BRD to Atma weapon, go buy the BRD Relic from a Calamity Salvager, then upgrade the Relic to Zenith and use that to farm more Atma. Or if you want you can get several sets of Atmas before upgrading BRD to Atma, your choice (made a lot easier since you can stack individual Atmas to 99 instead of them not being stacked)

ok I actually figured out that calamity salvager trick a while back, but being all 50's my bagspace is more than a little tight so I was hoping I could get away without it, but I guess thats what I'll have to do. So does alexandrite work the same way? or can you collect some for a few stages?

I farmed up all 12 atma stones and placed them on a retainer.

This was over 3 months ago.

I usually Fate/Hunt Pt as Healer wearing Zenith Rod.

In these 3 months I've never seen a duplicate atma drop.

Is it possible that after reaching all 12, you cannot collect more until you upgrade an item? Anecdotal but true. 3~ months no atma

I can. and this was before they nerfed the drop rate. I got my atma from east thanalan on the first act at highbridge then a second on the third act. Back then they didn't stack but they do now. I had 3 of one of them at some point.

TBH I haven't tried farming more than an individual type of Atma(Lion, Maiden, etc), mainly because I only play a few jobs and don't plan on hitting Zodiac with anything else. It's supposed to be true, and the Atmas do now have a little "1" in the lower corner when you get them. Though I do know how mad I was back when Atma was introduced, and one of my former-FC members(they left and belong with another FC now) got TWO of the same Atma before any of the rest of us got ONE from the same zone...

Yes, they stack. Yes you can get multiples of the same one. My friend got 4 atma in one zone while trying to farm my one. Animus and above cause Alexandrite to drop instead of atma, so only zenith will get you atma.

I also had prenerfs when I worked on first atma weapon (like 1-2 weeks after release) 3 Atma of the Scorpions just back then no stacking.
