Game is now unplayable due to lag

I've been playing on a ps4 through a wireless connection for about 2 months. I had absolutely no problems other than a few disconnects here and there. Suddenly this Tuesday, the lag worsened considerably and hasn't gotten any better. I just did the first guildhest to check and it was like a slide show. All the other wireless connections in the house work fine and my roommate plays through wired connection and he's fine. Also, my sending/receiving has gone from pretty low numbers to hundreds/thousands (Highest being 16k receiving.) This issue is ruining the game for me.

I think it might be a problem with your Wi-Fi connection. Im also playing on PS4 using a wireless connection and ive had no problems at all.

That's what we thought at first too, but everything else works fine. Normally when we get disconnects, restarting the router helps but it does nothing this time and we're not sure what else to try.

It could be the wireless connection on your ps4. Do you have a lot of lag with other games when you play online? If so then you should contact sony for help on fixing the problem. The other divices that connect to the wireless router, do you play any games that requires a lot of data to be sent over the network? Is your room mate playing ff14? If he dose not then check to see if the ports on your router for ff14. Try getting a new router and see if you have the same problem. You can get a cheap one or anyone and return it later to get your money back.

So far my ps4 works fine for everything else, and the router is a new one. We didn't have any problems with it until tuesday. My roommate and I play together, me on wi-fi and him wired and other than the occasional lag spike it was pretty unnoticeable. The only thing I can think of is getting a wired connection for my ps4 as well, other than that I'm just out a loss as to what could be the problem. It seems like everything works fine except for the game.

Those S/R numbers are your bytes sent/received, not your latency (in case that is what you were thinking). It's possible you may simply be running into elevated congestion across one of the nodes on your way to your server, would would have a greater impact now that your data flow has doubled. It's a pretty common problem with the internet, especially when you are trying to get to an area with such a limited choice in paths to get there like we face with Montreal (more than 3/4 of all routes from/through the US are crammed into some bad bottlenecks in the north east).

It will take some proper testing to confirm it...but it may simply be that your ISP needs to adjust your route because their shaping rules aren't stemming off the congestion spikes. You will need to be in touch with their Tier3 guys though in most cases--not typically the guys that answer the phone when you call them. If you feel comfortable running traces/pings yourself, you can save the details on tests to SE's servers as well as other services like youtube, google, netflix, twitchTV, etc. for a comparison and forward them to the techs for review and they should take it from there. Sometimes it is best if you go through their support forums/portal if they have something setup online though, since you can submit samples right away with your initial support request. Here are the currently registered DNS names for the lobby servers in case you need some addresses (your ISP can use them for testing as well, since they will allow them to discern the subnets and ASN's they need to test/adjust policies):

    Current Canadian Servers
    neolobby02.ffxiv.com
    neolobby04.ffxiv.com
    neolobby06.ffxiv.com

    Current Japan Servers
    neolobby01.ffxiv.com
    neolobby03.ffxiv.com
    neolobby05.ffxiv.com

***note that some of these assignments may change once the new EU based datacenters go online.

I am playing in Australia and you eat practically every AoE issued by enemies and forget Titan ex. By the time he shows the knock back attack no matter how far you are away it knocks you back even when you are clearly 3 - 4 seconds out of the way.

As an Aussie playing on the Moogle server it is impossible to play this way, and there are no servers for Australians.
