    How much will the new Claiming System impact the Challenge Level?

    Hello, adventurers!

    I'm opening a new more specific Topic (for general discussion, there's already this thread) on the new claiming system to be introduced in patch 1.19, as I'd like to talk about a precise matter.

    The challenge.

    That's one of the things I like the most in Eorzea, be it during exploration or in battle. So, now that this new claiming system seems always closer to be really implemented, I've a big concern that the challenge level might be greatly influenced by it.

    Of course, I'm sure there will always be new challenges, like in instanced raids, but what about the already existing ones?

    Example:

    Often, when I'm near Camp Tranquil, I like to fight 1 vs. 1 against Queen Bolete, a good battle as a Rank 32 Pugilist. When I fight against a strong monster, there's no particular reason, I don't crave for skill points or the possible “super equip” it drops... Actually, I don't care about those at all (yeah, I'm an atypical adventurer), but I'm interested in the challenge it offers.
    But with this new system, if I understood it correctly, everyone will be able to attack everything in open fields or in normal dungeons, so if another adventurer passes by when I'm fighting Queen Bolete or other monsters in a 1 vs. 1 challenge, I'll get a help that I don't want.

    On a different point of view, I may like the fact that other adventurers might join and help in battle: that's good and reflects the logo of “adventurers ready to back up each other”... but if needed. Like, it's me that is actually requesting it (maybe with a specific command?). There should be a choice, in those cases I want a 1 vs. 1 match.

    This and the above example, of course, may apply to Party Play as well.


    Maybe there's something I'm missing on such a system, but it seems like it's really going to work this way...

    With that said, I've trust in Yoshida-san and I'm sure he's looking at the big picture for future contents, but I'm trying to let him hear my voice nonetheless. If other adventurers out there have a similar concern, please do the same here.

    if you're seeking challenge, skip Bolette and take down Haughtpox. No one's doing the "rank 50" nms anymore brotha.

    I can see two options with the new system

    1. This will be excellent for Large scale pve battles, like hamlet defense or pick up alliance groups.
    2. Perhaps a set of ethics will be implemented by players, like asking if the attacking player needs help before engaging. While not everyone will conform to it, I have found FF players to be very polite.

    This system is already in place in another super popular mmo that I won't name. So, while the community in that game is arguably much worse than in this game, it is a system that is working fine for them.

    The way it works in practice is not much different than the claiming system we have now. When you talk about unwanted help, yes it is possible, but since there is no benefit to helping a random player, you will still see players continue to ignore others and go about there business. Nice players may drop thou a cure if they see you in trouble, but they do that anyways.

    tldr;

    I don't think new claiming system will change the way players interact with each other in the field very much.

    We don't know if this will effect NMs or not. I know no outside help can aid you when you claim a NM (Not sure if the same applies for the mid ranked, but I'd assume so). So unless that changes nothing to worry about.

    After the materia sysem is added I'll bet anything people will be farming them left and right to try and HQ weapons/armor. Or at least use them for the base weapon to add materia to.

    Considering SE is so against power leveling, this system makes very little sense...

    Why not split rewards based on fight contribution, or just an even split?
