Unintended consequence of free weekends on FC leadership

I don't think SE considered the effect all of these free weekends have on their mechanism for passing FC leadership after the leader has been gone for 35 days. If these characters return on free time the counter is reset.

The current leader of my little fc was almost at 35 last free weekend, and logged in briefly. This time he has about 10 days left before removal and here comes another free weekend. Assuming there is another weekend coming to celebrate the final 2.x patch or the advent of the expansion I'm looking at over a hundred days at least before I gain back control of my guild (I created it, and gave it to the RL friend when I had to travel for work... for a bit over a week).

The necessity is low (I'm the second highest rank of a mostly inactive guild with every single permission) and I'm not willing to push the issue with the person because I value the irl friendship more than a title, but it would certainty be nice if this system worked the way it was intended to.

Yeah in game, in person, and online elsewhere haha, and it hasn't changed anything. Again, I don't care to press the issue because it's a trivial desire and not a need, but it does demonstrate a flaw in the current system.

I think the flaw is giving it to someone who refuses to return leadership after they obviously don't play the game. Considering they even take the time to log on during free weekends too.

It was the correct decision at the time though. We weren't quite Rank 8 when I left and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to acquire a plot just because I was away. It wouldn't have been fair to the people who were active at the time. Just because there were unforeseen consequences doesn't invalidate the choice. And again, that isn't the issue--the issue is the system is able to be bypassed through the use of unpaid gametime. If 'leadership should have been transferred voluntarily' was the only valid option the system would not exist at all.

That's a ridiculous technicality though; logging in is only 'active' in the most basic sense. Subscribing coveys a degree intent that logging in on free time does not.

Ask for the FC back and explain that since he's not actually actively playing (paying) the game its unfair to you and the other members as your kinda leaderless and for want of a better word castrated in terms of what the FC can do.
Side note I hope you documented this deal in-game (screen prints of chat logs) for just in-case he doesnt give up control and you need to ask for GM intervention.

If he's a good friend and isnt petty I'm sure he'd pass control this weekend, just ask nice and explain the situation
