I can't decide my main class... PLD vs BLM

So, let me explain my problem.

I always loved classes that can use Board and Sword, so in almost every game my 1st class will most likely be a Paladin/Warrior/Templar/Crusader, etc.

When I saw the 1st FFXIV pics, the AF set + Relic Board and Sword was one of the best combos that I've seen in a Game... So I started playing as a PLD!

It was great from 1-50, loved the gameplay and how fast it was to get into groups, just great!

The problem is... I had to take a break and when I finally started playing again, I found a few pictures of a Black Mage wearing the Dreadwyrm set. OMFG that set looks great.

So I started playing BLM, loved his DPS and Flare =D, and he looks great too! (Wizards normally will be my 2nd class in most games)...

Atm my BLM has better gear than my PLD, ilvl 112 vs ilvl 103, i'm wearing some ilvl 120 demon parts and ironworks, lvl 100 relic...

**Here's the real problem**

I'm so excited to get Odin outfit, Sleipnir (yeah he's fat), his board and sword and look exactly like Odin, it'll be awesome *-*, but my ping isnt very good to tank hard instances... My avg ping is 180... And end game content is way too hard to get hit and die with bad ping...

Though, Blm looks fantastic on dredwyrm set, Lilith Zeta also looks great, and I love to dps and burn things out fast with a good rotation, the only problem is how hard it is to get into queues as a DPS class...

So i'd love the opinions of our community, your knowledge about the game, the classes, your experience and what would be better at this point of the game...

bth man, deadwyrm head looks like complete shit. i love blm. but we need more GOOD plds world wide. tanking is not in everyones blood. it seems like you love it. if it aint broke, dont fix it!

Depends on whether or not you have a group that's willing to take you on their Final Coil runs (its not in duty finder yet) and with your bad ping it'll be very difficult to even do coil due to their mechanics.

Overall, I'd say stick to tanking if that's what you like. We need more competant tanks in game

Play whatever you feel like playing at any given time.

I have Warrior and Bard both around the same iLevel and I hop between the two of them based on either convenience, necessity, or preference at the moment.

I face the same problem as you too , and I just switch from dps to tank because I can played like 4 hour per days and while I play DPS the time that I have to wait per dungeon . . . . . .OMG it's was ... arhhhhhh and all of my time are gone, so I just try out tank for the first time ( in othergame I alway have love hate relationship with tank , sometime I like playing it sometime I hate playing it ) and so far I love it , the Q time ohhhhhrr ..... It's lifestyle changing ( even though It kinda boring outside the dungeon and littlebit frustrating when dps do something .....bad)

and also how can I check my ping tho , sometime I have the problem dodging stuff too , It's like when I see the red area I have to move out immediately ( I mean very immediately ) even I know their animation is slow ,but if I don't move out immediately !! I alway get hit . is this the ping problem or It's intended, cuz I don't want to wipe my team out because I play tank with a bad ping.

Hello;

BLM main here, and I personally, I think you should play both.

More specifically, you should use the Paladin's faster Duty Finder queue times to help gear the Black Mage, and switch to whichever Job you need in a given situation.
