    PS4 Strafing

If this already exists, please just tell me where it is and to stfu and I will gladly comply...

Can we please please get an option to strafe on PS4? I am not talking about changing the control settings to strafe when I move the joystick Left/Right - that handicaps you very very hard on PS4 because you cannot move backwards with any sort of speed.

I am talking about.. say... allowing us to hold L1 to lock us into a strafing position. This is mainly to help out melee characters maintain auto-attacks while moving around. Currently the only solution is to lock-on target - it does suffice, but its really not very fluid and can get you into trouble even if you do reach a competent level of using it.

I don't give a crap about cycling backwards on my hotbar list, I only every use R1 to cycle x-hotbars and that's like... to get my mount when I am running somewhere.

This is the only true game-play advantage that PC players have over PS4 players (I don't care if you have 10,000 buttons on your hotbars, they don't matter).

Please please please give me this.

    Also... a parser.

Yeah the only way to strafe is to lock on target, or use legacy controls.

Part of the reason I stopped using my controller and hooked my Kb&mouse up.

I agree with you completely, but for now just play on standard it takes time to get use to but it works the same.

I'm using non-legacy control and doing fine, I'm just sure that there is a way better solution to this and I would very much like to let the devs know there is demand for dev time to spent on this.

Really sounds like target lock is what you're looking for but maybe I'm wrong. The default button for that is L3 I believe, when you target a monster and then lock the target it allows you to temporarily strafe/backpedal until you press it again and unlock the target.

To me it makes a lot more sense for this to be a toggle rather than a button you hold since you need your fingers for holding triggers and moving anyways.

Unless you want to play with legacy controls or switch to a keyboard and mouse, you're just going to have to get used to locking on target.

That's basically the end of the story. No way around it.
It's really simple tbh, it's extremely easy to click and click again to lock on. It's fast, easy, and does the job.

Is it as good as strafing with a keyboard and mouse? Eh, maybe not quite, but it's perfectly fine and you just need to get used to it.
I don't really think theres a better solution for this. The game works very well how it is currently on controller.
You either get used to locking on, or switch to legacy controls.

I think you might be right sometimes when I try and get away from an enemy attack I think I accidentally press down on the analog and instead of running away end up strafing right back into the enemys attack :/

L3 is the clostest to what you're looking for, and no i have no idea why moving backwards is so bloody slow.

This is one of the first functions i found in the game when i realized animations made no real attempt to pretend like they're hitting the target in ARR, especially on Bard. But it's really just an aesthetic feature. Running around and through enemies while mashing buttons works just as well if not infinitely better, since you don't have to circle the target.

You can disable this button in the settings if it's screwing you up. Personally I went ahead and disabled it because I use L3 for my push to talk because I use PS4 Controller on PC.
