I missing something or.... (new class/job expansion)

I honestly think gunblade is going to be the 2nd form of mechanist. There is no way I see them not having base classes, and I feel it would fit. Think about it.

    1-30 mechanist 30+ gunblade
I mean *maaaaybe* archer, but come on...

    Same with the others

For or astrologian it *could* come off whm but I'm doubtful.

The only one I don't see having/being a starter would dark knight as I feel it would come off of gladiator quite well.

But even then I think they would have

    ??? - lvl30-> drk.

Also, I don't see drk and astrologian being a starting point, I see them as the jobs. Where as gunner just feels more like the base for something bigger. *coughgunbladecough*

Correct me if I'm wrong and they gave true words about it. But otherwise maybe there's more for us to be excited for than we realize?

It has been confirmed that the Machinist, Dark Knight, and Astrologian will be so from level 1 to 60. They have no base classes, they are purely jobs.

I suspect they'll still have a base Class, just not in the current sense. You would, for example, need Lv30 Gladiator to unlock Dark Knight, but Dark Knight is Lv1 and has its own set of "base" moves, instead of piggybacking off Gladiator like Paladin.

Base classes are going away for these new jobs, it isn't hard to understand as they are not needed anyway.

Just like what others are saying, the concept of base classes will only be around for the current jobs. All new classes will be the same from lvl 1 to 60.

(THIS IS THEORY PART) My bet is that they will work like FF11 system. You will be able to use cross-class skills based on your class, but you do not need other classes to unlock the one you are playing. Plus, level does not effect which skills you get. This is my guess.

i feel like i am missing something why is there all a sudden talk f a gun blade class? was something officially hinted by SE (and i mean recently, the CID and nero scene from ST dose not count for this o3o, or are people guessing wildly due to 4.0 most likely us attacking garlamald)

I don't understand why people think there's going to be a "Gunblade" class. There isn't. It would be much more simple to instead, make a weapon model for the Machinist that looks like a type of gunblade. This, I could see them doing.

That isn't to say that sometime in the future they might implement a job that actually does use a Gunblade for a weapon (though I doubt it, seems that kind of technology is closely tied to specifically the Garlean Empire).

Though expansion jobs won't be using gun blades, unless like I stated, it's a special type of weapon model.

I doubt this, since it was said that the jobs would be available from the get go as long as you had the expansion and could reach the new areas.

I feel all new jobs will likely move away from the cross classing skills altogether. I think that instead, the new jobs will likely just receive more specific skills to make up for not having cross class skills to choose from. This would also help to further diversify new jobs going forward, which means they won't be tied to using other older class skills or job skills from jobs that quite frankly it wouldn't make sense for them to be using. Jobs would be their own thing without needing skills from other jobs, and perhaps in the future each job will have special paths that might branch out to further diversify playstyles (but I'm getting ahead of myself here), though this is just speculation/hopeful thinking.

I just don't think new jobs going foward will utilize cross-class/job skills, and I hope they don't. If all new jobs have more skills to choose from then there won't be a need for such a system with them.

Also, likely the only requirement for actually "unlocking" the new jobs would just be completion of certain main scenario quests. I just don't see someone needing to level up different classes or jobs in order to unlock these new jobs. Though, it might be that a requirement of at least 1 level 30 or maybe even 50 DoW/DoM might be needed since it might not exactly be a pure cakewalk to wherever the npcs that start these quests are. We'll see.

Yoshi-P has stated that the majority of players will be able to play as the new jobs from launch day. As to what the requires are exactly we do not know, but we can speculate that there will be a main story completion requirement, more so than a job or class requirement.

It has been stated (I can't find the exact interview) by Yoshi-P that there will be no surprise jobs.

I was thinking (hoping?) DK would have some sort of tie in with Paladin. Sort of a reverse Cecil thing. Cant say im disappointed in getting rid of classes though. Not that I have any personal gripe against it I just dont see the point in having a whole "job" thats pretty much the same as the class its based out of but with a few new abilities. Hopefully they do it for the rest of the jobs as well... would help with the SMN/SCH stats thing plus they can keep some of the classes as an alternative 'spec' (eg. Gladiator would be sword'n'board DPS)

Unfortunately already existing jobs aren't going to see any fine tuning quite like the new jobs. However, we can at least hope that going from 50-60 on the old jobs offers some unique changes and improvements.
