[dev1026] Changes to Claiming and Engaging Enemies

All I gotta say is... as long as we can aoe or attack a mob outside the group of mobs we are currently fighting and still receive full benefits for it I'm all for this change... otherwise this change is insignificant and doesn't combat (no pun intended) the biggest problem of the current claim system xD

If you don't like grinding, you'll just have someone PL you and make it less painful.
If you do like grinding, then you'll just do like everyone else and solo/party.

It's the same issue with people and the 5 min cd's on instances... people don't want others getting gear faster then them or even before them so they think they NEED to do these back to back lmao ... quoted truth, stated by numerous people upon instance release... goes hand in hand with NA players being nosey and not knowing respect/minding their own business in game or otherwise >.< This isn't going to change, it's who they are, just glad Yoshi isn't catering to these personality types :P

That's not it, you can already get r50 in under 2 weeks. Here's an example:

My ARC was r21 the same day I got r25. It took me 1 day to get to r21.

The difference? I had to level it myself, not have someone else do it for me while I sat back eating doritos.

The curve is already too fast if you ask me. Now it'll be even faster, and you don't have to do shit.

Yea, i'm sure you are like most people with only a couple hours to play during the week.
PL will make lvling faster for those who can't play 10h/day. But that still doesnt mean they will be able to get to max rank that fast, since they might want to craft or gather.

True, and I understand and respect that.

But you missed the main point of my post. It's not all about speed, it's about having someone else do all the work for you. I had to play Archer to get r50, I didn't just claim a bunch of mobs then watch someone else kill them for me.

Ok, i agree with that.
That's why i liked FFXI's PL. Where you would only get healed by someone. There was no such thing as someone killing it for you lol. And at certain lvl that would no longer happen since mobs would be too high.
But sadly there's no pleasing everyone, so i guess we'll just have to deal with it lol.

You mean where a capped healer would get hate off the bat with a Cure IV and you would get yelled at if you tried to rip hate from the 75 stone skinned white mage? The PL system where you literally could just afk after initiating auto attack?

Just as in XI, XIV will present a choice to the player the degree of power leveling ranging from not at all to initiate and afk. It's a players prerogative to pay for a game they're not playing.

They could go back to a system like there was at launch, bur then there will be a bunch of gladiators, archers and mages at cap while everyone else sits around wondering how they get to cap without tanks or healers -- ultimately meaning they need to be the tanks and healers.

This system is fair, and will be more enticing for knew players. Heck, I know I'll level more classes than I originally intended to, and I'll be doing it without a PL.

Are you that person? If you aren't, then why do you care how others get to 50. Some prefer the easy way out and would rather be PL'ed to catch up with their friends or LS mates fater.

Anyways, that person who is being PL'ed still has to claim the mobs, compared to now it's a lot more on their part than just follow the level 50 in the group.

All am saying is that, while myself I do not want to be PL'ed through the game, some might and they can do it for all I care. It's their game as much as mine and they can get to 50 however they want as long as the game allows it.

I just don't understand people so much against it that they need to post countless pages about it. if you don't like to be PL'ed then don't ask for it, if you don't want to PL people, then don't do it. Go do leves and grind parties and leave the other people who wants to level with a Power leveler do their business, it doesn't affect you in ANY way.
