Chocobo Races TOO OP! Question for Ya'll though!

Already Rank 33 with my current chocobo and I can safely say I have not once considered really pumping stamina/endurance/cunning thanks to current track layouts. Everything has gone into speed/acceleration. I did some stam/end early on for a minor boost but since about rank 15~20 I haven't needed to raise them anymore.

The current tracks are pretty much just "you either go fast or you get screwed". Weather at least plays some factor in that it seems to slow you down/increase stamina consumption if you're lathered, but its really not a major factor (unless bad weather persists for the WHOLE race).

And what does cunning even do- I never saw it explained.

Edit: All in all, its a new system. I'm sure Heavensward will bring some changes. Right now it seems like they wanted to get a good framework down. I think its in a good spot to be expanded on.

Yeah, if you have NPCs participating, they definitely shouldn't be getting that bonus. Also, those briars are crazy OP, lol. I've been dumping most of my points into stamina (currently rank 24) and those briars can still take me down from like 70% to 50%, basically putting me out of the race just because I get hit by them once (or if someone turns towards me with them).

I understand abilities are supposed to help you, but when you've been conserving your stamina and such, then someone pops these briars on you and can basically put you out of the game, that's definitely not cool. I'm not saying they shouldn't drain stamina at all. That part is fine, but it just shouldn't be so much, ya know? Maybe each time they pop you, take 3-5% instead. That can still hurt you, but you can still recover and stay in the race too rather than being knocked out early and basically just finishing the remaining 25-30% of the course as a formality.

God help you if you're surrounded by three people that use them on you. You're pretty much dead at that point, lol.

I would like weekly tournaments with prizes.

You have 15mins to sign up before the first race kicks off.When the 15mins are up,player races start every 5mins until every signup has had a race.1st 2nd and 3rd of each race move into next round with a 15min lul.So it keeps going like that until it's whittled down to a final race.

Either there would have to be a max number that could sign up to make races even,or you'd have to fill some spots with npcs.

Could have a tournament board that's updated after every race so people can stare at it or...something.

I'd also like the higher ranked races with more mgp rewards,because triad blows chocobo racing out of the water in that respect with some npc opponents.

I'd like endurance races(so focusing on stam and endurance means something) with mgp scaled according to the races length.

Briars needs to be tuned down. They need to be a threat but not a race ender. The way they are now, you get stuck in one, you might as well just sit back and enjoy the scenery because it will take a miracle and some incredible jockeying to come out in any kind of position. Basically all Briars has done has added Twintania's twisters on to the race track and no one likes one hit kills when they're just trying to have fun.

For me I would like to see
-A betting system added for racers.
-A spectator mode which also has a betting system

They've already said "No betting" due to the implications with gambling and irl laws and stuff. I know with simulated gambling the game would retain the T rating it has in the US, but I don't know if it would change the rating in other countries. A spectator mode should be perfectly all right though and I would like to watch my LS friends when they do races together.

I agree that the briars are a bit much (shortly before the game went down for maint, I was in a race where I got hit by 2 overlapping briars and then after another chest I got hit with another 2 overlapping in that same race), Most of the time though, when you're only hit with 1 at a time, I think they are recoverable if you make sure you know the course and get the right chests (sometimes it's better to miss a chest than to let the person right behind you get a briar for instance). There is a little bit of strategy involved.

Also keep in mind that you can only hold 1 item at a time, so don't forget or postpone using something at the expense of the next good chest. Admittedly I've done that once or twice ._. But I learned!

I guess yoshi wasn't to pleased how ppl ignored briars in t6 so he brought them back to let ppl shove it in each other's faces.
We should get items tho that will help us catch up if were near last cuz once ur in the back then there's almost no chance of getting back in the race lol.

This isn't Mario Kart. Last place does not need something to cheese people who actually earned first place through body blocking and/or luck. That is what cunning/speed/endurance is for.

Later on, if you go past level 10, you do get a skill that may/may not help. As a tip, you should get rid of level head asap with the lethe water if you're one of the unlucky ones to get it. If anything in Chocobo Racing should change, it's skills that are completely useless for the racer, and heavy having an actual detriment instead of 'you need to hold W now'.

Still, briars are irritating when three are bunched up and you're in the middle of the pack.

Edit: Oh yea. Don't even get me started on how god awful the movement latency is for turning in chocobo racing. This isn't 2.0, get it done right or not at all.

Might as well ask for full access to our abilities. Whm Holying away on her Chocobo. It's turned into PvP!

Also, keep an eye out on who snagged the Briar powerup and stay away from them. If you see the next treasure box containing like 3-Briars and you're in the middle of a pack of racers, slow down or attempt to burst ahead of them. It's going to be painful otherwise.

Briars are strong, but they hit a very small area around the person using it. Be aware of those who pick them up, and avoid them. You don't need to stand right on top of someone as they use one, you know.
