Could it be that she's gained personality traits from each, uh, thing she's consumed? I mean, no other primal that we know of eats other primals (unless you count Ultima) and a primal's aether probably holds a bit of self after dispersing, let alone still within its body.

If that were the case, it's no wonder she'd gone insane...unless the things she consumed were the ones that were insane to begin with, I dunno *shrugs*.
In any case, yeah...I *almost* feel sorry for her, if she weren't such an homicidal maniac.

She's just a schizophrenic - holy $!*% I just spelled that right on the first try! Ahem... Yes, I imagine several powerful beings competing in your head for control of a single body might drive one to insanity. That's a pretty far-out-there theory though.

I'm pretty sure the card's description simply means that she's power-trippin', to an insane degree. Given her dialogue, she's pretty confident that wind is THE most powerful element and it's wielder should rule everything ever, at least until her head is taken by the jaws of Ultima.

Yeah it could be her extreme nature is a result of something else, but from her dialogue alone, she just seemed like a batshit insane narcissist. The ability to summon and sustain impenetrable stormwinds would likely just amplify that.

Which is pretty interesting. Ifrit is certainly the most terrifying primal in the game to me, off visuals alone. But were it a real life situation, i'd honestly rather face him than Garuda. I think the only primal shown with more practical power has been Ramuh, who would just be impossible to approach or avoid.

This is a clip of when Garuda 1st awakened and wreaked havoc on a Gridanian hamlet...it certainly gives "Now Fall" in her lyrics a new meaning. Truly a frightening Primal in both 1.0 and 2.0

We know from the SMN quest that an egi (a manifestation of a primal's left-over aether) retains the "personality" of the primal before subduing it. so it is highly possible that the Lord of Snake's traits end affecting her in the end; especially since it was a VERY powerful opponent

    Wind blows out flames.
Wind erodes rock and blows sand.
Wind blows water to create waves; wind blows rain to create hurricanes; "air" evaporates water.
Wind blows clouds to direct lightning storms.
Wind blows snow; cold wind chills water to make it ice.

    Yep.

When I see this mentioned I almost always immediately think of Quetzalcoatl and get my jimmies excited. But then I have to remind myself that Quetzy isn't a winged serpent in FF and is, instead, a lightning angel...thing... and then my jimmies get sad.

Not that I'm out to excite anybodies jimmies, but I can make a conspiracy theory out of just about anything, as I recently did about Quetzalcoatl to joke around with Corvinoobus while reporting a minor text bug (assuming you didn't mention Quetz because you already read it, lol). Is all that a coincidence? (Probably, yes. That's a lot more likely than me just nailing all of that.)

Ah, I also forgot to mention that Shiva's card thoroughly destroyed another theory I was working on - a theory in which Shiva was a vessel for Halone and was responsible for bringing Thordan's posse to Ishgard.

It's definitely a love/hate relationship between myself and triple triad.

What's more interesting, to me at least, from that video, Nael confirms yet again that "Gods" (The Twelve) are an actual thing and that they're very much alive...even if they may as well be dead.

They really do drive home the whole "feasting" theme with Garuda though, makes me think there really is some truth to the mythos... If she gained the power of the Vortex by consuming the Lord of Snakes that could explain how he kept life land-bound (he used the power to prevent flight), though if he was a Primal he shouldn't have left a corpse behind to be feasted upon... Unless he was used by the Allag in a similar fashion to Bahamut... Preventing flight by manipulating the wind would be a useful when waging a war with dragons...
Who is this "Lord of Snakes"? Because the 13th Zodiac symbol, Ophiuchus, is a lord of snakes. Ophiuchus is also known as Sabik, Ultima Weapon is powered by an Ascian device called the Heart of Sabik. I'll put my tinfoil on just in case, but with Ultima being powered by the Lord of Snakes could the act of consuming Garuda in such a manner be a kind of ironic revenge? If there's any degree of truth to these stories of course, anything regarding the history of primals is a bit sketchy.

On the subject of Ophiuchus/Sabik, Elidibus takes on its form in FF Tactics, so perhaps this Heart of Sabik / Lord of Snakes thing comes back to the Elidibus in this game. I think it's definitely a safe bet to say he represents Ophiuchus, although the Ivalice equivalent of that is Zodiark...(Lahabrea = Mateus / Pisces, Nabriales = Cuchulainn / Scorpio, etc) [/tinfoil off]

[Edit]: I know the Lord of Snakes thing is a myth, this was just an excuse to throw out the Ophiuchus connections I'd noticed :P
