Please never put Afros in the game because that would be Rachel.

-_- it's just game wtf. You can cook dye, you can mine mountain that never depleted, you can chop wood without make the tree fall, and many more game logic. You took all thing too serious lol.

Political messages? Sure, right. This has to be a troll thread. I'm not going to mock the idea of eating shark fins (I've never even had it personally.) but the OP is seriously missing something here. There indeed could be more uses to said Megalodon than what's accessible to the common adventurer. Keep in mind the average adventurer in Eorzea uses crystals from making clothing to preparing a meal. The average Eorzean still cooks, skins, carves, smelts, weaves, and so on. Therefore they still have many recipes and such that are available to them that cannot be made with the simplistic alternative offered with crystals. If you consider it many of the item descriptions for food may seem inconsistent too.
Antelope Stew
A thick, flavorful soup made by simmering a variety of wild vegetables and antelope meat over a low heat for several hours.
Antelope Stew made by an adventurer using crystals is created in a mere matter of seconds, minutes even. Yet an actual cook would definitely take several hours to create it. So basing your argument over an in-game description is silly. It's not political, they're not hiding anything, there's no advocating the abuse of sharks. Anyway back to the usage of the entire shark just because there isn't a recipe available via the means of crystals doesn't mean that the entire shark is wasted. It very well may be that only via traditional means might the fishermen and culinarians of Eorzea make actual use of the remains.
EDIT: Technically even with crystals it may not be wasted, failed synthesis and leftover scraps may be actually returned to the aether (Read Lifestream.) which thanks to things like the Primals are probably desperately needed. Though thinking about it at this point feels pretty silly since this is only a game.

Of all the things you kill in this game you draw the line at sharks?
Think about it... How many other animals have you needlessly killed for a quest?
I smell troll.
This thread gave me a good chuckle.
And caused some vital organ failures too.

I can't feel nearly as strongly about this as OP does, but I think if you want to disagree with him, you ought to do so on grounds that aren't complete bullshit. OP is not mad that fake sharks get killed; they're mad because real sharks get killed in a cruel fashion and feel that having an item in the game representing the product for which these acts are committed is in poor taste.
I'm inclined to agree with them on that, even if I don't feel a crusade or a petition is necessary; I doubt finners are sitting around saying to themselves, "I'm so happy to have my product legitimized by an MMO I could jump," or that people on the fence have suddenly decided it must be worth trying if SE thinks it would make you better at stitching.
But seriously people: shark finning is atrocious. Imagine somebody chopping off half of one of your legs and then tossing you onto an obstacle course to die. It's really not that crazy to imagine that someone finds this addition thoughtless and tasteless.

How about you take this argument to the actual poachers who are killing sharks.
This is a virtual game which you believe SE/players are actually committing crimes versus sharks.
Its fake and you need to come to the realization of that.
if you come back with a argument you might as well argue that we are slaughtering animals for experience also and human beings.
I mean yes its a horrible thing but you need to tell the difference even though you know its virtual you seems to think the game is promoting this stuff when people are just thinking of stats.
As I said though I believe this argument is a waste of time, might as well argue about everything else also.
this best not be a sarcastic thread troll cause it almost seems like it to me. lol
Down with sharks! (in game)

It's fake.
As fake as the incredible acts of violence in the game itself.
I've murdered people Quentin. I've killed one of a kind creatures. I have torn rare material and food from the land itself.
You just have to live and let make believe.

I have to assume it's in jest but if not, perhaps we need to take it further and not just single out these poor defenseless sharks.
So with that, I propose they include the ability to eat anything, Just because it talks doesn't mean it isn't delicious.
