This is an outright lie. A virtual lie because the only other recipe that includes Megalodon is a trophy recipe from GSM. The truth is that shark meat is not used as the broth in Shark Fin Soup or any other popular soup. It is not savory. Shark Fin Soup actually uses a pork or chicken broth. Ironically, the chicken broth is the only part of the soup that has any nutritional value or taste.

I used the "it's just a game" rationale until I read the description. Plenty of other games have Shark Fin Soup. But the quote I mentioned above did not sit with me right. It is a completely unnecessary fabrication. It makes you wonder why it is in the description at all. It is also a lie used IRL to justify this shameful practice. If SE is going to use a game for political agenda then I'm going to speak up.

Bro, it's a fantasy game, the writers can make sharks taste like God's nectar and have them piss gold. If you have such a big issue with shark poaching, I think you'd have a bigger effect at going after... real sharkfin soup? Nah, bitching about it in a freaking video game forum is the way to go! what about the karakul? they were mudered in the thousands for their skins and fleece *even though they apprently multiply and grow up super fast*

and even worse! what about the water sprites? have you ever seen one in the real world? NO? thats becuase we killed all of them already! To avoid the same to happen in ff14 we should make water sprites untargetable so we can protect them, especially the ones at Urths Gift.
