Haha, saw this thread after I came back home from a long and boring work day. Thanks for the laughs, OP. 10/10 =3

Inability to discern fiction from reality is a very serious issue, and not a laughing matter at all
You can read more about the condition here.
I urge the op to seek professional help with this as soon as possible.

Seriously though it's game, treat it as such. Stop trying to dig so deep into every little thing; I swear more and more people on the internet now seek out and try their hardest to find something to be offended by. If you feel that deeply insulted by this then don't support SE anymore by cancelling your subscription. And yes, that IS the best way to protest this as your subscription which will cut into their revenue will speak even louder than some misguided post on a video game's forum.
That's not my argument though. I don't mind a food item in the game being named shark fin soup. I don't mind my character capturing and killing sharks. It's a game.
My issue is the political rhetoric in the description. It doesn't describe shark fin soup at all. It was obviously put in there on purpose for some reason. It's a common misconception encouraged by people profiteering from killing endangered sharks. I think it is to help defend a shameful practice that still exists in the world today. The fact that SE put a bold faced lie into the description of one of the most controversial food dishes in the world tells me all I need to know.
To the trolls, why reply with insults and garbage about global warming, confusing reality, and other ridiculous assumptions? Either read the original post and make an educated response or don't. Reading the first line and replying with random crap just makes you look dumb. You're just putting a bunch of nonsensical biased filler in between the real responses.

OR, and this may be a stretch for you, it's just a video game and an perhaps simply shows a misudnerstanding on the part of the translator. You know. An accident. Not everything is some evil conspiracy. You keep trying to act like this is political or rhetoric. It makes for more sense for this to be a simple mistake. It's a video game. Not some political entity with any amount of political clout at all. Giving this issue a political slant is your mistake and yours alone. If you don't like how political this is then please, go look in a mirror, and yell at yourself.
Stop treating things like it was all deliberate. Mistakes happen. Get over it.
Not to be that guy but shark fins aren't the only things used the teeth can be used for jewelry.
Also shark skin has been used for a number of things from sand paper to Japanese armor its used in the hands so the samurai wouldn't lose their grip on their katana.
So OP needs to get their facts together. I'm not for killing of sharks but if theres laws and regulations in place and everything on the body is used.
But whaleing is bad no excuse for it. But I still hope we get to harpoon Bismarck.
"The massive fin of a megalodon, boiled in a rich Far Eastern broth until soft and gelatinous. While not incuded in the soup, the remainder of the sharkflesh is salted and dried until rock hard, then shaved into paper-thin slices which, when boiled in hot water, create a savory soup that is the base of countless other recipes."My issue is the political rhetoric in the description. What is the political agenda there, that this fictional dish in a video game uses the rest of the body for something else?
PETA (or someone similar) recently hung a big sing from a building near where I work, to bring attention to the company there killing tigers in their efforts to make dandruff shampoo. I say that's two birds with one stone, the world needs less dandruff and fewer deadly animals. Sharks fall into this category for me as well.
Eating shark fin (in w/e preparatory form) is fine, just so long as people don't do it in the callous way that is practiced today, for monetary profit. In any case, people have to realise this is a game. There is a lot more content in game that is dubious, but it's a work of fiction.

wait... maybe i read this wrong... but now... did this thread derailed to be one about conspiracy and promote shark killing? i bet it is the RMT and illuminati behind all of this
Also i love how he says that the others are making "ridiculous assumptions" in the same post he says that SE put that description to protect the companies that go after sharks? oh man...
Common sense alone tells you not every part of the shark is used. If every part was used then there wouldn't be a law forcing fisherman to bring the whole body of the shark to the dock. This is why a lot of Asian fisheries were processing the shark fins in South America in countries without this law. The shark body is worthless and is usually thrown overboard in international waters. I explained this already...Not to be that guy but shark fins aren't the only things used the teeth can be used for jewelry.
