question on melding

I want to meld strenghth IV on bearliege cuirass but it says item lvl is too low, how is lvl110 too low?

All items have stat caps - Bearliege Cuirass already has a ton of Strength on it so it can't take any more.

More specifically; all items have their own stats caps for each individual stat. Typically speaking an item can't take much more (or any at all) of the stats that are already on it.
If on a meld you have the added stats displayed in red it means you hit the cap for that stat. If you were to have 3 STR left to hit the STR cap on the item, and you were to add + 4 STR materia, it would display in red as ''+ 3 STR added''

In general you reach a statcap for base stats that are by default on it once its HQ. You only can meld other stats at this point... Thats the matter why tanks on accessories always decide for them selves if they want vit melded str accessories or str melded vit accessories.
