I talked to a GM about it before making this bug report, which he recommended in addition to his investigation. The problem is that the battle had already started when the vote kick completed. It was likely started before, but starting the fight should've canceled the vote kick as far as the GM was aware.

This shouldn't be like that. If you make a pre-made group, you will make a full party instead of a partial one at someone else's expense, you can't enforce them to leave the one they have joined via DF. What if the person waited 30+ minutes in que just to get kicked by a team of 7 who decided to vote him off? That's abusive/harrassive gameplay and subject to account suspension in my opinion, this person should have reported all of them for doing that.

Well if the GM says that you can't vote anyone off once the battle starts then in my opinion it can be considered as a bug.
