What do you guys think of the new forums?

Just wish someone could come up with an idea that will please 80-90% of the players around and like that make it the most popular/most discussed thread so that it gets to SE for sure.

Pretty much impossible. MMORPG players come from so many different games, experiences and backgrounds, that tastes will obviously differ, even radically.

Even when something will be seen as acceptable, what's "ideal" for you will very rarely be "ideal" for the 90% of other people.

I think the layout and look is pretty good, and like someone mentioned, it fits well on a mobile phone. As far as the whining and complaining, I think its pretty standard for MMO forums. People that are enjoying the game usually use their time to play the game instead of going to forums, whereas those that have complaints will tend to go to the forums to make those known. There's nothing wrong with that, in my eyes. Sure, it might get annoying to see the same complaints over and over, but hey, I just skip over them and read other threads after a while.

I really like the layout. I just wish that the number of page was actually displayed near the topic title, in order to be able to open each thread directly on the last page (i know it seems lazy, but one click less across all threads saves quite a bit of time) ^^

As for the people, I think it's a lively community. I wouldn't paint heated debate as something negative.

I think they need to make more categories.. general discussion needs to have some sub's of "battle systems" "character classes" "and pointless crap".. etc..

besides "pointless crap" (that's a very subjective definition, what's pointless to you may be important to others), I'm sure you'd like to be made aware that both battle systems and character classes forums exist.

I'd like to see a language filter once it gets out of beta.

It's cool I can see the other posts, but unfortunately I only speak one language well enough to read to type anything.

So when I hit the "new posts" button, giving me German or Japanese doesn't do me any good. For some it's great, I'd just like the option to filter out languages you don't read.

Kilta you are the most vocal of the players in the "I'm peeved at the game right now" camp. It's nice to get some input from that side, as most of the folks I hang out with pretty much like the game aside from what we see as things that just need some tweaks and polishes.

So from that standpoint I think the forums are a great way to gather a broader spectrum of opinions and ideas.
