As happened with Ninja, things are now naturally crowded and will settle down themselves with some time, when the "new toy" hype will go down and all the server goes again do all the other stuff, than zerging the GS.

I like this idea, a lot!
Edit: Although I think I left my game running when I ran out the door for work....I hope to God I'm not one of those gold saucer afkers right now....sorry if I am!![]()
I agree completely with the OP.
People having loopholes doesn't mean the idea is bad. It means square should fix the loop holes. Those afk tricks people used are really easy to detect.
Why should I? This argument has been hashed and rehashed over and over again. So much so that SE did the afk boot thing and then rescinded it. Obviously they don't want it since they took it away after doing it. On top of that, with the exception of a few whiners here in the forums, most people want it to stay away.
.
That is of course.. people make this their new home ( aka FFXI Jeuno), then it doesn't even matter if they do anything in the gold saucer or not :P.
let me join choco racing from DF window and i will leave GS
Because the pro AFK forever crowd never come up with one tangible reason why they should be allowed to clog up the servers for, in some cases, hours at a time instead of taking 10 seconds to just click start, select their character to relog in when they are back at the game. So pointless responses ho!
It was really more of people congesting the login servers, than people being AFK in a corner somewhere. That was why people during beta and at release had to play the lottery to even get in. Especially since they properly fixed their waiting in line queue to log in, there really has been no use in kicking AFK people off spread around the world.
But, now, because a singular zone has been so popular at release, and will continue to remain so for quite a while, there is no issue with login servers or anything of the sort. It is a capacity issue with the zone itself. Helping to boot AFK people off that are only inside Gold Saucer would help to eliminate some of the problem. When those AFK people try to log in, and Gold Saucer is at max capacity, they simply are returned to their Home Point. Easy solution, and most of the coding is already there.
Maintenance tonight!
"At the following time, in order to address the Feb. 24, 2015 issue in which players could become unable to properly move to contents Worlds, we will be performing maintenance on all Worlds. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn will be unavailable."
If this is to fix the Gold Saucer capacity problems, this is something that SE should have known was going to happen and this fix should have been part of the go live product. There have been far too many cases where people have heavily zerged content for SE to be caught unaware this time.
