I think Gold Saucer is a bit different than you normal patch week rush.

GS is like a different game all on it's own and people will play FFXIV just for Triple Triad alone, then there's the people that wanna chocobo race a lot. Those two main attractions will keep Gs booming for longer than your standard patch perhaps for a very long time.
