Nonsense?! TT and Card Mod were the only reason FFVIII was even playable to me (besides the amazing score)! But to each his own, I guess.

I would actually like if they allowed duplicate cards to be desynthesized (like Card Mod) so that you didn't have to just sell them back to the NPC to 1/10,000 of their original MGP price.

But Swift and his stupid Chaos rule oh god. Every time I need my 5 star card right away, its the one card that either doesn't come up (when going second) or comes last when its too late.
You must have been stupid lucky. I got Louisoix but it took a good 2-3 hours of playing. Landenel I still haven't got a card to drop. Titan or Odin. I have 60 cards. You can't play with a 1*/3* deck against either, they are random decks.

Agreed 100% But instead of getting rid of it, make it fair. The NPC has like 8 cards to "random" from. I have 60. Srsly?

Get mohr cards son! Keep in mind that it's the journey and not the destination that counts. Also, keep in mind that Yoshi said they will release more cards down the road. Getting 60 now is tough with only 80 total but once they start pumping out more it will be easier.

I like XIV better. Losing cards pissed me right the F off in VIII. Once I accidentally saved and lost my best card. I was pissed.

I like each near equally but FF8 takes it. The fact that FF8 lets you lose your cards just makes it more intense. FF14 is too forgiving, but because you can't collect two of the same card, and the difficulty of obtaining some of them, they can't deliver the same punishment/reward as FF8 without a horrible imbalance. I mean you could reload in FF8 but that depends on the kind of gamer you are.

They need a TT scenario that's more intense and pressure-filled than what we alrady have. Settling disputes over loot would be a bad idea. Maybe some matchmaking system that remotely pits you against random player-controlled gamblers of the same tier (30 card, 60 card etc) for a gil wager.

If there's no real fear of loss, it's difficult to feel anything for the game. Not that grinding through NPCs and switching your brain off for a bit can't be relaxing. But it needs that spark.

Maybe it would be nice if spare card drops could be refined into something else based on their quality. Like craft materials and consumables a la FF8 style. Maybe even materia.

do we really need to have cards be farmed for materials? Yoshi stated that triple triad was to be for casual play while waiting on duties and since you don't risk anything when playing cards, I see little reason to add risk for the sake of it. To have cards converted into materials would mean yet another thing for people to grind for and it might make gathering materials in this method render other material collecting methods obsolete. Remember how people stopped playing dungeons and the coil when the hunts were new due to how easy it was to get the materials needed to strengthen your gear? Don't want to see that happen again.

If you really wanted a "betting" system when playing against others in a game of cards, you can easily use the PF to set up the rules for it.

Ahhh losing a card game in FF8 and losing that Seifer card, "well I can win it back, lets keep playing".....crap, now you lost your Quistis card too...you're about to soft reset, when it suddenly hits you "crap, my last save was 5 hours ago!!!!!"......ahhh good memories...

I should have mentioned that crafting would also be toward new novelties/cosmetics. Separate from my desire to have something worth feeling pressure over.

Cards for materials that leads to glamour? Hm...well, I guess that could work but I still feel quite iffy. It's bad enough that you have to grind cards to begin with.

No, instead TM was burdened with a dice roll randomness that left you never knowing if your side 10 would beat the side 2.

I'll take the reliable game, thanks ^_^
