Triple Triad card rarity limit question

I forgot where I read it, but somewhere it tells you how many of certain rarities you can have as you get more cards. I know as you get more you can have more in your deck, but somewhere I read the exact number. None of the NPCs tell you. All the Triple Triad Master says is that initially you can only have 1 card with rarity higher than common. But somewhere else I read the exact numbers as you progress. Someone remind me where please?

I'm taking a wild guess that it doesn't count duplicates.

Okay, thanks. I checked the patch notes like 3 times before posting this, but stopped when I would get down to Known Issues because SE usually puts known issues and bugs last in patch notes. So I was thinking part of notes was missing because I read about it earlier, but I guess when I first read patch notes I must of scrolled past known issues and fixes.

As of patch 2.51, 80 varieties of Triple Triad cards are available. While some cards can be purchased with MGP at the Manderville Gold Saucer, others can be obtained as rewards from defeating NPCs, Triple Triad Tournaments, and the completion of certain duties. As cards cannot be traded or purchased from the market, players are encouraged to challenge NPCs and journey throughout Eorzea in search of rare and powerful cards.

All cards can be classified by rarity (one to five stars). Initially, each deck can only contain one card with a rarity rating higher than one star. As you acquire more cards, however, the restriction becomes less prohibitive, and will eventually only apply to the highest tiers of rarity.

    Less than 30 Cards
Allowed one card with a rarity of two stars or higher.

    Between 30 and 59 Cards
No restriction on cards with a rarity of two stars or less.
Allowed one card with a rarity of three stars or higher.

    60 Cards or More
No restriction on cards with a rarity of three stars or less.
Allowed one card with a rarity of four stars or higher.
NPCs are kicking my arse when I only have 1x 2 star :/

This restriction is kind of stupid if you ask me. There's not really any point to it other than to ensure you lose matches more often than not since NPCs apparently aren't bound by the same rules.

No they're not. In fact most NPC's don't even have 30 cards as proven by the random rule giving them pretty much the same deck every time you play them. I agree this rule is a bit annoying, but I could live with it if the NPC's at least followed the same guidelines as everyone else.

Yeah, seriously. Even with the AI making stupid mistakes from time to time that actually allows you a chance to win, it still means it will literally be impossible for you to win most of the games you'll play. At least when it comes to any of the 3-5 star exclusive card NPCs. Take for example Swift in Ul'dah. Nothing but Chaos rule and he only uses 4-5 star cards... maybe one 3-star card in the mix. That match is literally designed to make you lose constantly.

Gegeruju can even have 3 5 star in him hand... i means they need to rethink the npc deck.

The restriction is meant for player vs player matches to preserve balance. But yes, the fact that NPCs can ignore those rules is pretty bull.
