    Adding an MP restore ability to Pugilist

    With 1.18 in place we saw pugilist undergo a large change in terms of MP consumption.
    Suddenly light strike and pummel cost 10 and 20MP a go and we're finding ourselves often running out of MP in the middle of a fight.

    I've wondered if an ability can be added exclusively to pugilists which can restore a small amount of MP with a cooldown similar to Second Wind.

    Either that or upgrade second wind to restore MP and we've basically got Chakra.

    Right now you can use Stygan spikes or Siphon MP for this purpose. But i believe that once jobs are added, since they will restrict the cross-class actions usage, some kind of MP regen might be added to PGL.

    But indeed i'd like having different costs/penalties here...maybe changing it to HP penalty instead of MP...if instead of 10 and 20 MP it was 20 and 40 HP it would be much better for PGL.

    I personally never run into MP issues, even while tanking. . . but that's because I'm an ******* and never heal myself with anything but Second Wind.

    At any rate, for my fellow PGL players who are more polite to their healers, I do agree that something needs to be done about our MP consumption. Whether that means cutting the costs on the abilities or means giving us some sort of native regenerative abilities, something should be done. . .

    ETA: Oh, I'd totally keep the 10 MP cost on Light Strike if the buff lasted the entire cooldown period, though.

    I agree with the thread starter. Although please do not swap out the HP healing bits of Second Wind for MP healing. Maybe I'm not high enough of a level as a PGL but I don't think we get a Second Wind II or something of that sort.

    Also, using spells from a different class becomes risky because of how much MP they cost. Cure costs 45 MP to cast, that's a lot for a PGL who doesn't have a naturally high MP. Certainly, one can allot points to MP but to be perfectly honest, I'd rather dump my points into HP seeing as PGL needs more HP as a job class as is. It's sort of stuck between a Thief, a Monk, and 1/3 of a tank the way I see it. (Sorry, referencing FFXI's job classes. I realize that XIV is supposed to be a different game than XI.) ...Only without the benefit of a monk's high HP or the things a THF can do. D=

    Long story short, PGL needs more love as a job class, however that isn't the thread for this. But I need to end here before I got a bigger rant. ; - ; sorry.

    I don't think they should add on at all. I see the flip side of the coin. I feel that it is defining of this game to let someone who for example, levels THM a few levels for stygian spikes and Siphon MP, to outshine a player who has not.

    Giving PGL an ability to restore MP when so much of its skills take up MP does not mean a job like THM or CONJ will be put to shame. It would be downright silly to assume that a PGL can outshine a class made for casting magic. Much like it would be very silly to assume a THM can outdo a PGL in terms of physical DD.

    I had seen some suggestions about adding a small mp restore onto Second Wind, and i thought that would be a great idea. Not only would it help out PUG, but it would also give DoMs something to do with their TP besides Weapon skills. However until something PUG specific for regaining MP is implemented the MP costs for PUG seem unnecessary.

    If monk doesnt get Chakra then I have to assume that pugilist will get it eventually, second wind was named chakra in the Alpha version after all.

    Agreed.

    If no significant changes are made to Light Strike and Pummel to merit the MP costs though, they should just be removed.

    As far as MP restore goes - I expect Chakra to be made available as a MNK skill when Jobs are out. If the MP costs were put on PGL attacks as prep for that, it makes sense - but the fact remains that the PGL skills, especially Pummel, do not have an effect worth the extra cost when compared with other class guild skills.
