Posting this to check if this is "Working as Intended" or not. I've beaten Fufulupa in Camp Horizon 37 times so far and I've gotten 1(Thats "one") 1-Star card from him. A Coblyn. Meanwhile he's rocking Raubahn, Thancred, Tataru, Momodi etc....multiple 2 and 3 star cards.

Well, you are lucky to have gotten 1 card from Fufulupa. I just counted my wins, 67 wins and nothing dropped.
Is this NPC bugged?

Fufulupa only drops Thancred, I am not sure how accurate it is but I got my Thancred card from him, he kinda annoying though.
If you want Thancred maybe try Hab in Southern Thanalan (24, 40)

You can trade MGP for a random chance at a common card, but it costs over 500 MGP, so you'd need to constantly max out your points and then get some extra just for a chance. Incidentally, I got 3 coblyns doing this. Yay. There aren't many good starter opponents either. You can beat the king if you're lucky with the 'Plus' rule, but the cards you win are largely rares which you can't even use more than one of.

As a warning about packs. I won 2nd place in the lottery last week (116,000 MGP). So I did the logical thing... I bought 40 Gold packs.

I did not get even 1 card above two stars in 40 packs.

With RNG anything is possible. However you wanna know what I got in about 5 hours time?

- 9 Thancreds (3 star) ( make that 10 now, just got another 1)
- 8 Godberts (3 star)

( Which nets me 800+ MGP) along with all the MGP I got within those 5 hours, so it's worth the time.

I also got 16 Ixals (1 stars) in roughly an 1hr.

If it was a problem getting these cards I would understand the RNG issue. But I been getting duplicates of the same thing. Which to me says the RNG isn't bad, it's just your getting really really REALLY bad luck.

Now 4-5 star cards are another thing all on it's own. 4 stars I can get ( in a reasonable time frame). 5 star cards ( non silver-boarded) Can take me anywhere from 1.5-3 hours ( so far for me, which netted me Bahamut/ Gaius)<---- both took 1.5-3 hours each.

I haven't been able to get Terra ( been farming that for 20+ runs with no dice). So the Silver Boarded cards are the ones with absurd drop rates.

This is all from personal experience anyways.

You don't need cards for that, you can do it with 5 cards, in order to win the tournament as it is now, you need to cheat the system and make high ranking people lose on purpose to you.

And thats exactly where it goes wrong!
Neither in FFVIII nor in real life turnament it was such a high pressure to get better cards for wining matches!

Rofl. I had minimum of 2500 games (approaching 3000 or possibly over. Lost count. o.o) before I found Gaius. Was about 36-40 hours over the course of 4 days, playing Indolent Imp...

It wasn't just for the card though. I was farming MGP for Setzer top, pants and shoes. ^^

OP: I actually found Thancred within 10 or under turns playing Fufu... (RNG I know :/) but I do agree with the person above saying that Hab in S. Thanalan is the way to go. He has a higher drop rate. About 6 Thancreds and 4 Godberts before I found Hildi. (30-40 games. RNG again I know ><)
