Thread: Patch 2.51 downloading issues!

Hey!

I went to boot the game this afternoon pretty much as soon as the patch was ready to download, so i began, and then my download speed gradually dropped off to 0.00 mb/ps

My internet speed is completely fine and i did a ping test, it's regular, about 25ms

So is this an issue with the launcher? i've never had problems downloading patches previously until now.
I've tried rebooting etc, but everytime i commence the download, it starts at about 0.5 mbps and drops to 0 within 10 seconds or so.

Is the patch even officially applied yet? All the servers are still "down for maintenance", so odds are that gradual tapering down to 0.00 mb/s was your download catching up to the patch.

That said, I'm not an expert and I don't particularly pay attention to what patches are where or when, but I doubt you're gonna get a clean download of the patch while the servers aren't even online.

Something may be impeding traffic to the mirror...could be a routing policy set by your ISP or their partner erroneously flagging it as P2P traffic or something.

Open Resource Monitor (resmon in the run/search box)) and look for the IP addresses being used by the launcher. You should see several listed...the ones starting with 124.150.xxx.xxx will be used shortly at the start of the download, but should eventually drop once the download gets going well from the mirror/cached server. The one address that stays connected and in use by the launcher is the mirror server you are downloading from. This is the one you need to contact your ISP about--you may need to get Tier3 support involved though, which will require you pushing for escalation.

In my case, I am using a server on my ISP's own network (107.14.34.66, RR/TWC segment), and it is pulling at a steady ~14Mbps on average. Oh, and that is at 6:24PM, Eastern time. So it isn't some odd time...lots of people coming home and getting on the internet and such. Even have a stream going to a Roku downstairs over the wifi and it is still pulling in the higher transfer rate.

After looking at the times of your posts I hope that issue resolved itself. Since at the times of your postings that I can see (starting at 0308 AM EST) the servers were still down.

Sometimes you may be able to download the update and just sit there and wait until the green light for access is given, but sometimes that does not happen. Apparently, you still had at least another two hours to go until maintenance was completed. Perhaps maintenance was also done to the update servers during that time which may have affected the rate of data transferred from the Square-Enix servers?

Posted maintenance time for completion was 2 AM PST, which translated to about 5AM EST (my time zone). So the only advice I can give you if this hapens again during a maintenance cylce is to not panic and try again or just wait until maintenance is completed.

Please disregard the times I posted. I reread the posts for the Maintenance and noticed that they finished early at 12:50 AM PST (approximately 03:50 AM EST). Still, I hope that the issue resolved itself
