They are not items. If they were they'd be in the item list at the bottom. I don't think there is going to be any RNG item drops in this. Sounds like straight up light farming to me.

Each card has a nice little lore-tastic description of the enemy/character/thing. I love it. That right there is reason enough for me to try and win em all!

I can imagine them doing it again. Light Farming isn't that bad. Compared to RNG fates and dungeons anyway. I just hope that if they end up doing it again you have a better way of tracking your progress.
