    Olgoi-Khorkhoi Help

    Hey there!

So I finally caught the 20 Silver Sovereigns necessary to get the Forager's Fishing Rod. Not only that, but I have also procured a Forager's vest Melded with +10 Gathering and +5 Perception. I have also been crafting HQ Spinach Quiche to buff my gathering skill even higher, all of this in preparation to catch the dreaded Olgoi-Khorkhoi!

However, upon fishing in the Sagolii Dunes fishing spot during a heat wave, I have not seen any Olgoi-Khorkhoi at all! This is while mooching Storm Riders. Four times in a half hour, I managed to catch an HQ Storm Rider for mooching. The first time, I caught some one-star fish that I don't remember. Every subsequent time, the fish got away.

It made me sad! I thought I was all ready and set to catch this fish, but it is proving extremely elusive! Can anyone offer any tips, like recommended Gathering/Perception scores to catch this fish?

Thank you very much in advance!

These took me a week of fishing as they seem to get away even if you have more than enough stats to catch them.

Also make sure you are not accidentally fishing in the wrong place. I hear tales of people fishing at the
Sagolii Desert on the west but its the one to the east.

it is random im afraid.. you will get them.

you'll also be sad to know you didn't need to catch the sovereigns' to do it as full melded af with i70 accs and fc buff and said spinach hq would of given you the stats needed to get olgoi.

but persevere as it may take a number of trips to fish the 2hq or 3 nq needed, took me 3 days of going to try my luck before I finally had them.

Is forager tool required for this fish? I have now fullcap melded forager/dodore gear set, i70 gold jewels with +5 gath & +5 per melds fisher and quest rod. I can reach gath 354 with food - it seems to be enough to get olgoi. Can i skip forager rod or it should be better to get it?

It is now quite possible to catch Olgoi without first obtaining the Forager's Rod. The entire Silver Sovereign grind can now be skipped, if you invest in the proper gear and/or food.

I actually found the Sovereign grind to be easy. In one instance, I actually managed to catch 7 HQ Sovereigns in the span of time it took for my Landtrap Salad HQ buff to expire. It was really nice!

But yeah. With your advice in mind, I might just make the effort to get the rest of the Forager's set before I start worrying about the Olgoi-Khorkhoi.

I tried to skip foragers and while I had enough gathering I was consistently getting "Fish got away message" and then waiting for heatwaves. It turned out easier to just fish the Sovereigns then get the Olgoi.

Seems to be so. I have 357 gathering with food and get the same messages. Maybe it should be better to get forager first - retainer needs good tool too )

Btw. I had no problems to skip forager tools for btn/min and is near lucus now (20-25 items remaining, at 2.5 hq from node avg) but my fisher still drops fish and has quest tool only (

Believe me, Ogloi is plenty slippery, even WITH quality gear. It just comes with a high escape rate built-in, and better gear doesn't do a lot to fix that. There are many Big Fish with this trait - Anomalocaris, for example, escaped my line like thirty times before I caught it, and I was wearing top-notch equipment that put me at roughly 50 gathering higher than that required to catch it.

As long as you're not getting a message saying "your skill is too low", you have sufficient gear to catch the fish, and adding additional Gathering won't do much, if anything, to lower the escape rate.
